Blac Chyna believes the Jenners and the Kardashians have something big against her. She thinks that grudge led to her career being sidetracked.
She’s so convinced of that, she filed a lawsuit against the family. While the entire group seems to be a bit nervous about that particular lawsuit, it seems as if at least one member is safe and sound.
Kim Kardashian just might be off the hook when it comes to the lawsuit.
Kim Kardashian Off The Hook From Blac Chyna Lawsuit?
Chyna — born Angela White — had initially sued ex-fiancé Rob Kardashian’s family in 2017. That suit was for defamation and intentional interference with her contract at the E! network. The SKIMS found, her mother Kris Jenner and sisters Khloé Kardashian and Kylie Jenner were the ones being sued, in particular.
The trial didn’t kick off until five years later on April 20.
After the trial started the family attorney entered a request to have The Kardashians star removed from the lawsuit.
“Because [Blac Chyna] has neither identified an allegedly defamatory statement by Kim Kardashian, nor specified an instance where she ratified an allegedly defamatory statement by another party, the claim against her must be dismissed,” legal documents obtained by PEOPLE state.
The filing continued to make it clear that at least one member of the family should not be included in the suit.
“[Blac Chyna’s] vague assertion on the record during [her] argument that Kim Kardashian ‘ratified those statements and encouraged her sisters to make them’ — without specifying how Kim Kardashian ratified them and to whom — is woefully insufficient to maintain a claim,” the document continued. “Additionally, statements by other Defendants cannot form the basis of a defamation claim against … because neither her mother nor her sisters ever acted as her agent.”
Opposing council argued the opposite. In fact, they argued Blac Chyna had the right to face the entire family in court. However, it appears the judge didn’t agree.
“There is no evidence that defendant Kim Kardashian took a ‘responsible part’ in the publication of the alleged statement by the other defendants,” the ruling stated.
A Couple Of Victories For The Family
That wasn’t the only ruling against Chyna. The judge also ruled against her in regards to the jury. She claimed that the choosing of the jury wasn’t fair. Another ruling made it clear the judge disagrees.
Before the trial started, the Arthur George designer explained her rationale.
“I am so thankful that a jury will finally listen to what really happened,” Chyna said.
“At the end of the trial,” she continued. “I’m going to be able to proudly tell King and Dream that I did everything I could to right the wrong that was done to me.”
She might still get that chance. However, whatever happens next will leave out at least one family member. Kim Kardashian is officially off the hook.
