Kiss Member Gene Simmons Rejects ‘Dancing With The Stars’

TV Shows

Don’t count on seeing Gene Simmons on Dancing With The Stars anytime soon. Season 31 premieres on Disney+ on September 19 and it appears that the casting department is still trying to finalize the lineup.

So far, there haven’t been any significant leaks as there have been in previous years. But Kiss member Gene Simmons recently revealed that DWTS invited him to take part this year. And he turned them down. Keep reading to get the latest information.

Rockstar Gene Simmons has no plans to compete in the ballroom

Gene Simmons turns 73 years old this August, so there are plenty of reasons that he might not want to be part of Dancing With The Stars. The show has featured several older contestants in the past, although they don’t generally place well. Karate Kid actor Martin Kove took part last year and finished in last place.

As much as many Kiss fans would love to see Gene compete in the ballroom, it’s not going to happen. The rockstar recently tweeted out that he had declined an offer to appear on the show.

“Thank you @officialdwts Dancing With The Stars for the offer to be on the show. Respectfully passing. Wouldn’t be fair to the other contestants. I won the Twist contest back in the Stone Age,” the rockstar tweeted out.

However, several of his fans and followers thought he should give it a try anyway.

Quitter, since WHEN has the mighty gene ‘the machine ‘ Simmons EVER backed down from a challenge. Go represent for the rockers out there and Give’em a KISS when you win the whole dam thing. And that’s why it’s good to be YOU,” replied a follower.

Dancing With The Stars heads to Disney+ this fall

Many avid Dancing With The Stars fans aren’t at all happy that the show is on Disney+ this year instead of ABC. But the good news is that there won’t be any commercials during the live stream.  While this is definitely great news for viewers, some are concerned about how the cast and crew will handle it. Judges, dancers, and clean-up crews all need time to gather notes, change costumes, and reset the stage. Many routines feature “messy” items like confetti, balloons, and more.

Dancing With The Stars also moves forward with an old face, EP Conrad Green. He replaces Andrew Llinares who parted ways with the show earlier this year. Green was EP when the show first premiered, so many seasoned DWTS fans hope he will restore some classic elements to the show this fall.

Stay tuned for more information on the upcoming DWTS season.
