Earlier this month, Kris Jenner revealed that her beloved mother, Mary Jo Shannon, passed away. Now, her death certificate has been released and officially confirms the cause of death. Keep reading for all of the details.
MJ’s Legacy
Mary Jo, affectionately known as MJ, is the mother of Kris Jenner and the grandmother of Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, and Rob Kardashian as well as Kendall and Kylie Jenner. Because of how involved and loved by her family she was, fans grew to love her as she frequently appeared on Keeping Up with the Kardashians and later The Kardashians. It was clear how much Kris loved and looked up to her mom. However, that all came crashing down earlier this month when Kris shared via social media that her mom had passed away.
Kris shared a lengthy caption alongside a stunning photo of her mom. The amount of love she has for MJ shone through her writing.
“Today, we said goodbye to my beautiful Mommy MJ. 😞💔,” she writes. “There are no words that could ever capture what she has meant to me or the heartbreak of having to say goodbye. My mom was the heart of our family. She taught me everything that truly matters … to love your family fiercely, to be kind, to show up for the people you love, and to never take a single moment together for granted.” Kris continues, saying, “She taught us that family is everything.”
She wasn’t the only one in her family to post. Kim Kardashian shared a tribute to her grandma. However, also suffered backlash when a seemingly scheduled vacation post went out on the same day as her passing.
Khloe Kardashian posted as well, sharing photos of herself and MJ through the years.
“My sweet MJ 🦋. Thank you for showing us that life is meant to be celebrated, that laughter is healing, and that love is the greatest legacy we can leave behind,” she shares. “You lived so fully, so gracefully and so beautifully.”
Kris Jenner’s Mom’s Cause Of Death Revealed
While everyone mourns the loss of such an icon, one question was left unanswered. What exactly happened to the family matriarch? US Weekly reports that the death certificate has been released, which means her cause of death is now known. Apparently, the ultimate cause was acute cardiopulmonary arrest, which is a sudden condition in which a person’s heart and breathing suddenly stop.
However, that’s not all. MJ also had acute respiratory failure and metastatic lung cancer.
She passed away on July 16 and was cremated on July 23. No autopsy was performed after she passed.
Clearly, this is an extremely hard time for the family and especially Kris as she now navigates life without her mother and best friend.
