Linda Cohn Retiring From ESPN After 34 Years

Linda Cohn has been part of ESPN for around 34 years, becoming well-known for her work with SportsCenter. However, it’s been announced that she will soon make her departure from the network, with her exit date announced. Since then, various figures, including Cohn herself, have opened up about the news.

Linda Cohn’s Work With ESPN Led To Her 2017 Induction To The National Sports Media Hall Of Fame

Cohn started her career as a sports reporter in radio in the 1980s. In 1992, she was hired by ESPN to work on SportsCenter.

Over the years, viewers watched Cohn do play-by-plays for the network’s coverage of the WNBA and was involved in NHL studio shows. She also frequently appeared in various “This Is SportsCenter” commercials. For her work, she was inducted into the National Sports Media Hall of Fame in 2017.

For over three decades, viewers have seen Cohn behind the desk. However, it’s been announced that she is retiring from the show.

According to USA Today, Cohn’s exit coincides with her contract expiring. The decision for Cohn to leave was reportedly mutually agreed on instead of developing a new deal. Cohn’s last day will be June 30, allowing her to finish out the month.

ESPN president Burke Magnus shared kind parting words for Cohn in a statement. According to a statement from the network, “Linda Cohn is a legend and a major part of the history of ESPN. She has brought enthusiasm, personality, and her love of sports to our audience for more than 30 years

After The News Was Announced, Fans Have Since Been Wishing Cohn Well On Social Media

“Her contributions to ESPN both in front of and behind the camera would make a very long list. We wish her all the best in her retirement and sincerely thank her.”

Looking at her career overall, Cohn herself shared, “What I’m most proud of is that my career lasted long enough for me to see little girls grow up watching SportsCenter, enter this business and succeed in it.”

ESPN has also announced Cohn’s exit on social media. Since then, many fans have shared words of support, noting that they watched her for years on the network. Some comments included:
