During a recent episode of Live With Kelly and Mark, Kelly Ripa thanked one musical icon for being an influence on her daughter. However, the story isn’t as simple as it appears. Meanwhile, a recent guest on the show also weighed in on the story.
During The Show, Kelly Ripa Discussed A Time When She Met Céline Dion On Live! Years Prior
Ripa has often talked about her family throughout her time on Live!, especially since her real-life husband, Mark Consuelos, officially joined her as a co-host. In addition, the show has often hosted a number of discussions about various pop culture figures, especially when they appeared as guests on the show.
Recently, Ripa opened up about one surprising figure that ended up having an influence on her family, particularly her daughter, Lola. This was none other than Canadian pop star Céline Dion.

While having a career spanning decades, Dion is arguably best known in the English-speaking world for singing “My Heart Will Go On,” the theme for the 1997 film Titanic. Prior to this, she had previously gained international recognition by winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 1988.
During the July 9 episode of Live With Kelly and Mark, Ripa and Conseulos sat down with Jim Parsons to discuss his role in the Broadway show, Titaníque, which is a parody of Titanic. During the conversation, Ripa recalled that she met Céline Dion back when she hosted alongside Regis Philbin.
Jim Parsons Appeared To Agree With Ripa’s Share, Making Note Of What Happens In Titaníque
As Ripa shared, “We had Céline Dion on this show, and I remember because my daughter was a baby. And she was singing to my daughter as a baby.”
Since that day, Ripa noted that Lola had grown up to become a singer. She suspected that Dion played a role in this. As she shared, “I am convinced it’s because Céline blessed her. She sang it into her.”

For his part, as noted by TV Insider, Parsons agreed with the sentiment, sharing, “I would not doubt she has the power to do that. In our show, she’s endowed with the power to bring us all back to life after we’ve died on the Titanic, so she could easily give your daughter the gift of voice.” In his show, Dion is presented as a character in the show; actress Marla Mindelle scored a 2026 Tony nomination for the role.
