‘LIVE’ Kelly Ripa Undergoes ‘Painful,’ Silencing Surgery

- Advertisment -

Kelly Ripa loves to chat, and that is what makes her such an incredible talk show host. Unfortunately, her husband and LIVE co-host, Mark Consuelos, broke the news that Kelly will be out for the foreseeable future. The mother of three just underwent an extremely “painful” surgery that has forced her to remain mute. Keep reading for more details on what is going on.

Kelly Ripa In Pain & Mute

For years, Kelly Ripa has been a major part of LIVE. She has sat beside Regis Philbin, Michael Strahan, Ryan Seacrest, and now, her own husband, Mark Consuelos. Kelly and Mark were co-stars on All My Children, so this is not foreign to them. They are candid and raw, which is something that viewers and guests truly appreciate. Yet, on July 27th, Kevin Jonas was sitting in Kelly’s seat, which was an interesting sight. As it turned out, Kelly had to undergo surgery, so she sent her love while she would be gone for some time.

Kelly had gum graft surgery, which the dentist anticipated she would need five years down the line. The five years were up, and it was time for her to undergo the procedure. However, Kelly was all jokes, thinking about having surgery in 2026, per Mark:

“Her dentist said five years ago, ‘You can do it in about five years.’ And she joked, ‘I didn’t think I’d still be on the air in five years!’”

He also noted that she is very good with pain, especially at the dentist, but this was next level. It has actually left her unable to speak, which is not good for this profession. Therefore, Kelly Ripa will be gone for the rest of the week. Kevin Jonas is back on Tuesday. On Wednesday will be Mila Kunis, followed by Pamela Adlon on Thursday and Scott Foley finishing the week on Friday.

Not An Easy Surgery

After LIVE fans heard what Kelly Ripa had undergone, they immediately chimed in with well wishes. Moreover, many had been through the same surgery and knew how incredibly painful it was. They could completely understand why Kelly was taking so much time off and moreover, why she was silent:

  • I can say from personal experience that this is VERY painful! I’ve had it done twice.
  • I had this procedure done last year, it was HORRENDOUS!
  • I had this done many years ago. They take tissue from the roof of your mouth and attach it where necessary. Get well soon Kelly. You are missed that’s for sure.
  • I had gum graft surgery several years ago, and a day later I felt like I’d been hit by a truck!! I didn’t know it would be as painful as it was. My entire body hurt!! Hopefully Kelly will recover quickly!!

Hopefully, she rests up and sees how many people sympathize with what she is going through. Are you a Kelly Ripa fan, and did you miss her today? Let us know in the comments below.
