Kelly Ripa has recently been recovering from a medical procedure, taking some time away from Live! with Kelly and Mark. While speaking with a guest host, Mark Consuelos, Ripa’s partner in marriage and in television, recently opened up about being apart from her. In particular, he looked back at another time when they were apart, and what followed. This also comes out as he’s been sharing updates about Ripa’s condition.
Mark Consuelos Recently Hosted Live! With Kelly & Mark With Guest Carrie Coon Amid Kelly Ripa’s Absence
Consuelos famously met Ripa while playing love interests on the soap opera All My Children. The two soon married in 1996 and share three children together.
In 2023, Consuelos and Ripa officially became co-hosts of their Live! show together, with him taking over for Ryan Seacrest. Ripa herself had joined the show in 2001.
Recently, Ripa has taken time off from the show as she recovers from a gum graft surgery. She is scheduled to make her return to the show on September 8, 2026.
In the meantime, Consuelos looked back on another time when she had to cope without Ripa. During the August 7 episode of their Live! show, Mark shared that he was only able to visit his wife for 19 days over a period of 10 months. Guest host Carrie Coon asked why this was, with him explaining that he was “working in Canada” at the time.
Consuelos Shared That He Was In For A Surprise When He Returned Home
Coon made note of Canada’s strict guidelines during the lockdowns, noting, “You were in the strict protocols. That was a scary time.”
On a lighter note, Mark shared that he was surprised to see how much Ripa had changed their home when he returned to the States. He shared, “My side of the bed, she had taken my side of the bed.” Carrie felt that Ripa’s action could be seen as “something sort of sweet.” Mark, however, didn’t see things that way, sharing, “I said, ‘This is my side of the bed.’ And she said, ‘You don’t live here.’”
Consuelos eventually gave into his wife and switched the sides of their bed permanently. However, he noted that Ripa might have had another motive for this. As he noted, their “air conditioner goes over her onto me.”
For the time being, as noted by Hello! Magazine, Mark has also been assuring fans that Kelly is “doing well” and “doing great” during this time. However, he felt that she needs to obey her doctor’s orders during her recovery process.
