‘Love Island USA’ and ‘Survivor’ Filmed in the Same Location & Fans Are Obsessed

What To Know

  • Love Island USA and Survivor are both filming in Fiji’s Mamanuca Islands.
  • Despite their proximity and overlapping crew, the two reality shows enforce strict rules to prevent any interaction.
  • Fans are fascinated by the idea of a crossover.

Love Island USA and Survivor may seem like they’re worlds apart, but in Fiji, they’re practically sharing a backyard.

In a new, eye-opening report that has reality TV fans buzzing, Peacock’s Love Island USA and CBS’s Survivor share more than just dramatic alliances and the occasional sand flea infestation. According to an article in The Sun, the two hit reality series are neighbors, with both filming in Fiji’s Mamanuca Islands.

Love Island USA is currently filming Season 8, while Survivor recently wrapped production on Season 51 and is preparing to begin filming Season 52. The report states that the Love Island USA production is based on Viti Levu and uses Mana Island Resort, the same resort where Survivor’s crew and eliminated castaways stay during their production. The two shows even share some support staff and facilities, but strict production rules reportedly prevent any interaction between the casts.

Sadly, the reality of the situation wasn’t the giant crossover party fans might have wanted. According to a source, “Each show has completely separate producers, directors, and editorial teams. But there’s [an] overlap with local crew. Over half of the support staff bounce between both productions during the season.”

“There’s no partying together, no hanging out, and no interactions allowed whatsoever,” the source told The Sun. “The networks enforce very strict separation rules to protect the integrity and secrecy of both shows.” During production, Survivor shoots on more remote, uninhabited islands scattered throughout the Mamanuca Archipelago.

Though the news isn’t exactly new — reports that the two productions share the same corner of Fiji have been circulating in for the past couple of years — fans are once again having a field day imagining what might happen if the worlds of Love Island USA and Survivor ever collided.

“Tbt to when Savannah confirmed she could hear the Love Island villa during Survivor 50,” posted one fan, along with video of the Survivor contestant Savannah Louie confirming she heard Love Island while she was on Survivor 50.

“I want someone from Survivor to escape the wilderness and stow away in the Love Island villa,” one fan posted on Reddit. “They can hear them laughing and having a great time every night while they’re trying to sleep in a make-shift shelter with nothing but a cup of rice to eat for three days,” wrote another.

On Threads, one hilarious fan wrote: “I wish when Survivor ended, the camera zoomed way out, moved to the other side of Fiji, zoomed back in, and then started Love Island.”

“We need a proper Love Island and Survivor crossover season where all the starving Survivor contestants start hooking up, and the hot people in swimwear from Love Island start going feral,” wrote another funny fan on X. “When they vote someone off of Love Island, they should have to go join the Survivor cast,” suggested another.
