Greene is an American politician and businesswoman who served as the U.S. representative for Georgia’s 14th congressional district. Starting in the position in 2021, she resigned in 2026.
Around this time, Greene became known for her criticism of President Donald Trump during his second presidency. Since her resignation earlier this year, Greene has continued to make media appearances and continued to make statements on social media.
As noted by Radar Online, the congressional salary is $174,000 annually. The base salary reportedly hasn’t been raised since 2009. However, additional money was approved for housing expenses in Washington, D.C., which can go to lodging, meals, and even parking.
In what was described as an act of “transparency,” Greene recently shared that she indeed earned this number and paid nearly $27,000 for housing in one year in a new video. She also reportedly spent around $12,000 on meals.
Members Of Congress Are Allowed To Trade Stock, But It Comes With Limitations, Causing Greene To Use A Broker
Greene also touched on deductions from her salary, including taxes, retirement fund, and health insurance. Despite misconceptions that members of Congress receive free healthcare, by showing her $409 monthly contribution to her health plan. She also showed pay stubs to back up her claims.
Grenne then opened up about investments and stock trading while as a member of Congress. She explained that members of Congress are allowed to trade stock, but with limitations. In particular, she was also required to report any trades to the Federal Trade Commission, as required by the STOCK Act of 2012.
As Greene explained, “This is the law in place that’s very strict about stock trading, and it was put in place to prevent insider trading.” Hoping to balance trading with her duties in Congress, Greene shared that she made an agreement with a broker, who made decisions on trades on her behalf.
Greene claimed, “He did a phenomenal job conducting all my trades for me. And then once trades are made, we had to report them directly by law by the STOCK Act and report these transactions through our FTC and through our financial disclosure reports.” She also claimed that she reported these trades “faster than pretty much everybody.”
