Melissa McCarthy has been on TV for a long time, and she’s always been known as a plus-sized comedian and actress. However, now she’s changing that narrative after she debuted her new body. Keep reading to find out more.
Melissa McCarthy’s History On Screen
It seems like decades ago that Melissa McCarthy was on Gilmore Girls, and that’s because it was! Melissa’s first big role was all the way back in 2000, when she played Sookie St. James. Sookie was a chef and became known for being Lorelai Gilmore’s silly best friend. From there, her career really took off, and she became a well-known comedian in the industry.
She went on to star in shows like Mike & Molly and became well known in the movie space. She did several different comedies including Bridesmaids, Tammy, and The Heat. Not only that, but she became a ‘Five-Timer’ on Saturday Night Live, meaning she’s hosted five times.
Through it all, she’s lost and gained weight; however, she has remained generally plus-sized. Now though, that’s all changing.
Showing Off Her New Body
According to Daily Express US, Melissa just did a photo shoot that has fans stunned while promoting her new series, The Murder of JonBenét Ramsey. Apparently, she has lost 95 pounds and is ready to show it off. On a magazine cover, Melissa is wearing a skin-tight, floor-length dress. The dress is cream and nude and it appears to be made out of lace as it perfectly hugs to every curve of her body. It features a high neck and long sleeves, keeping it classy while still showing off her womanly body.
In the past, Melissa has shared just how harsh people could be about how much she weighs. Even going as far as to tell her that she would never make it big because of how she looks. Obviously, this wasn’t true, as she has brought so many iconic characters to life during her time in Hollywood.
“It really hurt my feelings,” Melissa shares. “I understand that the odds are not as high as if I was skinny, but I still have talent. I thought, ‘I’ll show you!’”
