Netflix Putting Reality Competition Spin on ‘Simon Says’ Game

- Advertisment -

Squid Game may be over, but Netflix isn’t done giving childhood games a twisty new meaning in its shows. Now, the streamer is adapting the old playground tradition of “Simon Says.”

On Thursday (June 18), the streamer announced it’s bringing a “new twist on the classic” game. So what does Simon Says have in store? Here’s a look at what we know so far.

When does Simon Says premiere?

Netflix announced that the series will arrive on the service in 2027.

What is Simon Says about?

The official description for the series tells us, “Following directions is only half the battle in Simon Says. A new reality competition series based on the OG playground game of the same name is premiering on Netflix in 2027. But this isn’t the Simon you remember from recess. In a mischievous and high-stakes twist, contestants will face a gauntlet of cunning challenges, strategic mind games, and unexpected pivots as they compete for a life-changing prize. One rule remains the same: if Simon says it, you’d better listen. To win over Simon and his prize money, players must decide when to follow orders or risk elimination. Obedience may buy another day, but every choice comes with consequences.”

Who is the creator of Simon Says?

The series hails from The Challenge‘s Emer Harkin and executive producers Julie Pizzi, Rupert Dobson, and Gayani Wanigaratne.

Who will compete on Simon Says?

Netflix has not revealed a list of competitors for the new series just yet. It is also unclear whether the series’ competition pool will be completely made up of civilian players or celebrity competitors or a mixture of both, like in the streamer’s other show, Squid Game: The Challenge.

Check back for more details about Simon Says as the series nears its release on Netflix next year!
