Netflix has announced a Christmas special headlined by actress and singer Sabrina Carpenter. The upcoming show, A Nonsense Christmas With Sabrina Carpenter, will have some surprise guests. That said, the special isn’t expected to be a typical Christmas show.
Fans Are Expecting All Sorts Of Songs In The Show
The special, A Nonsense Christmas With Sabrina Carpenter, will include songs from Carpenter’s EP “Fruitcake,” which, as the title suggests, revolves around a holiday theme. That said, Carpenter is also expected to perform some traditional Christmas carols.
In fact, the special actually shares its name with Carpenter’s own Christmas single, “A Nonsense Christmas.” It is a holiday remix of her song, “Nonsense.” Carpenter notably performed a mashup of both versions of the song during the 2023 iHeartRadio Jingle Ball.
In addition, some fans hope she will sing some of her famous songs, like “Feather,” “Espresso,” and “Please Please Please.”
Variety noted that Carpenter shared that, “The holidays have always been so special to me.”
As Carpenter continued, “I am excited to bring my take to a classic holiday variety show — infusing my love of music and comedy to make something that is uniquely me.”
Carpenter is working with OBB Pictures to produce the Christmas special through her At Last Productions banner.
Carpenter Plans To Subvert The Classic Christmas Story
OBB Media CEO Michael D. Ratner also shared that, “Sabrina’s vision to subvert the classic holiday special has been clear since day one.”
“At OBB, we partner with the world’s most captivating artists to reimagine the expected, and we’re proud of the work by our entire team and want to highlight Simone Spira, the Volara team, Sam Wrench, Nikki Boella and all involved that brought Sabrina’s vision to life on Netflix.”
Netflix promoted the special on X, with a promotional clip of Carpenter walking into frame wearing boots and a red sequin-laden top. Coming into view, she asks the viewer if they were “Expecting someone else?” Assuming she’s talking about Santa Claus, the clip highlights that this won’t be a typical holiday special.
The special will also feature “unexpected duets and comedic guests.” However, at this time, it’s unclear just who these guests will be. Of course, the lineup might be planned as a Christmas surprise.
Starting her career as a child star, Carpenter arguably first rose to fame as Maya Hart on the Disney Channel show Girl Meets World, a sequel series to Boy Meets World. However, in recent years, she has gained prominence as a singer. That said, some fans may hope to see Carpenter use her acting chops in the upcoming special.
