Criminal Minds has always brought in some great guest stars, and that continues with Evolution on Paramount+, especially in Season 19. One is Nicholas Gonzalez in the Thursday, June 18, episode, and TV Insider has an exclusive first look.

The Good Doctor star guest stars on Criminal Minds: Evolution as Peter O’Connor, the by-the-book chief of staff of Tom Milliken (Jamison Jones), a retired army grunt who was introduced in Episode 2 this season, goes way back with BAU member Luke Alvez (Adam Rodriguez), and trained Tyler Green (RJ Hatanaka). O’Connor is composed under pressure — until an FBI training accident wreaks havoc on his team. Check out our photos of Gonzalez as O’Connor above and below.

In this next episode, titled “Friendly Fire,” Luke and Tyler will be clashing during the case, which involves that FBI training accident. Plus, serial killer Elias Voit (Zach Gilford) and Brian Garrity (Paul F. Tompkins) return to the podcast in an attempt to lure out The Fan.

The Fan is the Voit copycat who is described as the BAU’s “most formidable nemesis yet.” So far, this UnSub has not reacted well to Voit calling anyone who listens to the show all about his killings “pathetic” and has also seemingly kidnapped Lance Kingston (Connor Storrie), whose photos The Fan used to test the BAU’s interrogation methods and profiling strategy; he knew that after the agents questioned Lance, who’d stalked an ex-girlfriend, he’d go online and rant about them.

Showrunner Erica Messer previously told TV Insider that it will be a minute before The Fan is seen face-to-face. “We won’t meet him face-to-face until Episode 8. So it’s really Episode 8, 9, 10. We’re aware of him, which is why we’re talking to Voit a lot, but the audience won’t see who it is until Episode 8,” she said.

She also told us that The Fan is “somebody [who] is enamored with who Voit is, what he’s done, and the idea of copying him in any way kind of terrifies everyone. We’ve never done that on the show for more than maybe an episode of, oh, this feels like Zodiac or something like that, but this was like, this is going to be the season.”
