Nicolas Cage has starred in over 100 movies since his breakout leading role in 1983’s Valley Girl. However, he’s famously had money issues over the years after ill-advised purchases and tax debt. The Oscar winner revealed that he’s “homeless” amid a shocking sinkhole. Keep reading to find out the details of his current predicament.
Nicolas Cage Reacts To TV Series Cancellation After 1 Season
After decades in film, Nicolas Cage made his first official jump to streaming with Prime Video’s Spider-Noir. He was previously in talks to play Joe Exotic, but the project was dropped. He starred as a private investigator from the 1930s on the MGM+ superhero series. It premiered on Amazon Prime Video earlier this year.

Unfortunately, the show was canceled after one season despite scoring 11 Emmy nominations. However, Nicolas Cage wasn’t dismayed by the cancellation. “For me, one season is perfect, having said what I wanted to say with this dangerous, innovative, pop-art Spider-Man,” he told Deadline. “Onwards, upwards, inwards.”
Viewers will soon see Nicolas Cage in another role on Prime Video. He stars as legendary football coach John Madden in the streamer’s upcoming Madden movie. It premieres November 18.
Oscar-Winning Actor Reveals He’s ‘Homeless’ Amid Shocking Sinkhole
Nic Cage was allegedly once worth $150 million dollars. However, he blew his money buying up multiple castles and islands. He was reportedly forced to sell multiple properties after failing to pay over $13 million in taxes. He’s since recouped some of his fortune with National Treasure and other blockbusters.

The actor purchased a $10.5 million home in Malibu, California, in 2024. However, it’s currently inhabitable. “I’m currently a little bit homeless,” he told the audience at a Los Angeles Comic Con panel, per E! News. “Something happened to my house in Malibu, so I’m just sort of living in hotels.”
That “something” was a gigantic sinkhole that opened next to his property. The area was declared an emergency and dozens of residents were evacuated. However, the actor didn’t let being “homeless” stand in the way of celebrating Halloween with his 4-year-old daughter, August.
“I don’t have normal trick-or-treaters that I would like to enjoy tonight. I’ll take my daughter out trick-or-treating somewhere in Santa Monica, but I am going to watch a movie where the director was actually nominated for Worst Director at the Razzies — called The Shining,” he shared of his holiday plans.
Iconic director Stanley Kubrick really was nominated for a Razzie for the now-classic film. Nicolas Cage himself has been nominated for 13 Razzie awards. His only win was the Razzie Redeemer Award for his highly acclaimed performance in 2021’s Pig.
The city’s attempt at fixing the sinkhole is dangerous and slow-going. Once he can return home, Nicolas Cage has to deal with the damage to his property. Stay tuned for updates.
