Pete Davidson Seeks Help Again For Mental Health Issues

TV Shows

Pete Davidson has checked himself back into a mental health facility. This isn’t his first stint in a treatment facility, but it is something that he knows will help him. Pete isn’t someone who needs people to intervene, as he has always said he knows when bad times are coming and seeks help before it gets out of control.

Here is what Pete just did and how this is good news for his mental health.

Davidson has been open about his issues before and said that he has gotten to the point where he can tell when things are starting to get out of control. Davidson battles borderline personality disorder and severe post-traumatic stress disorder. He has been in and out of mental health facilities since he was nine.

A source said that mental health has “always been a priority” for Davidson (via PEOPLE). He has been very open about his battles with addiction issues. Recently, Davidson made jokes about his sobriety journey on his 200+ show stand-up comedy tour. He admitted that he had become addicted to ketamine, a dissociative drug.

What Are Pete Davidson’s Mental Health Issues?

Pete Davidson lived with borderline personality disorder his entire life but wasn’t diagnosed until 2018. At that time, everything started to make sense for the actor and comedian. This came two years after he checked into a rehabilitation program in 2016 because he didn’t know the cause of the mental breakdowns.

“This has been the worst year of my life, getting diagnosed with this and trying to figure out how to learn with this and live with this,” he said at the time. The best news was that when the doctors finally diagnosed the issue, he was put on medication that helped stabilize him.

“The last few years have been real rough with me,” Pete said. “I took all these mental health classes and really spent a lot of time getting me good.”

In 2023, Pete also checked into a treatment center to help him with his issues. On top of the borderline personality disorder, Pete also deals with severe post-traumatic stress disorder. This was mostly caused by the 9/11 attacks. His father, a first responder, died during the attacks on the World Trade Center.
