A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 filming has reportedly been forced to relocate due to unprecedented rainfall on Spain’s Grand Canary Island. The area was being used as scenery for a portion of Westeros plagued by a drought. Now, flooding has damaged part of the set, prompting production to pause and set up camp elsewhere.
According to Atlantica Hoy, a Spanish news outlet, the Las Niñas Dam has reached levels unseen in the last 15 years following heavy rains in the winter and Storm Therese in March. The flooding has reportedly rendered certain filming areas unusable. The Game of Thrones prequel spinoff is said to have reserved the recreation area and campsite for filming from February 23 to May 15, but the campsite was reopened on April 11.
Part of the film set is reportedly submerged and will have to be recovered at a later time. In the meantime, production has moved to the Peninsula.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 adapts the second Dunk and Egg novella by George R.R. Martin, The Sworn Sword. In it, Ser Duncan the Tall serves Ser Eustace Osgrey in his home of the Reach, which is experiencing a drought.

When does A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 premiere?
HBO renewed A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms for Season 2 and House of the Dragon for Season 4 on Thursday, November 20. House of the Dragon Season 3 premieres in summer 2026, with A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 coming out in 2027.
TV Insider caught up with series creator Ira Parker, who previously worked on House of the Dragon (which also got an early renewal on November 20), before the spinoff debuted. He shared an update on Season 2.
“We’ve shot 10 days of Season 2,” Parker told TV Insider in January 2026. “We [took] a month break for Christmas, and then for this and premiere week, and then we come back and do a lot of work. So it’s a weird schedule, but I’m happy we got those 10 days in before. We’ve shot some very nice stuff.”
Season 2 filming will take about three months, Parker said. “It’s a week longer than Season 1, so it’s about 14 weeks we have.” It’s not clear how much of a delay the flooding in Spain may have caused.

Who is in the cast of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2?
Season 1 starred Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan “Dunk” the Tall, Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg. The cast also included Daniel Ings as Ser Lyonel Baratheon, Bertie Carvel as Baelor Targaryen, Danny Webb as Ser Arlan of Pennytree, Sam Spruell as Maekar Targaryen, Shaun Thomas as Raymun Fossoway, Finn Bennett as Aerion Targaryen, Edward Ashley as Ser Steffon Fossoway, Tanzyn Crawford as Tanselle, Henry Ashton as Daeron Targaryen, Youssef Kerkour as Steely Pate, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor as Plummer, and Daniel Monks as Ser Manfred Dondarrion.
Claffey and Ansell will be back as Dunk and Egg in Season 2. Carvel’s Baelor died in Season 1 Episode 5, marking his exit from the series. Additional returning cast will be announced at a later time.
The Game of Thrones spinoff will welcome Lucy Boynton, Alien: Earth‘s Babou Ceesay, and Peter Mullan into the fold for the second season. All three of them are playing characters from Martin’s books.
In Season 2, Boynton plays Lady Rohanne, Ceesay plays Ser Bennis, and Mullan plays Ser Eustace Osgrey.
In Martin’s books, Rohanne Webber’s family was involved in the Blackfyre Rebellion. Ser Eustace is a landed knight with connections to the Webber family. Ser Bennis of the Brown Shield is a hedge knight who met Ser Arlan and Dunk when Dunk was still a squire.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a trio of novellas written by Martin. The three stories are The Hedge Knight (1998), The Sworn Sword (2003), and The Mystery Knight (2010), and the collection’s official title is Tales of Dunk and Egg. Martin is credited as a co-creator and executive producer on the HBO adaptation. It’s co-created with Ira Parker, with executive producers Sarah Bradshaw, Owen Harris, Ryan Condal, and Vince Gerardis. The directors are Owen Harris and Sarah Adina Smith.
