Are you ready to Return to Paradise?
A little too warm to be considered a cozy mystery, the Australian crime drama comedy series readies for Season 2 as Anna Samson returns to the role of Detective Sergeant Mackenzie “Mack” Clarke, an Aussie ex-pat who temporarily moves back to her hometown of Dolphin Cove to help her mother but ends up embroiled in a murder case.
Unable to return to the home in London due to complications with the case, Mackenzie’s situation gets far trickier when her jilted ex is on the case with her and his mother is her boss.
Heading Stateside this summer, here is everything we know about Season 2 of Return to Paradise, including when it will premiere, what happened in the first season, and what to expect in the second outing.
When does Return to Paradise Season 2 premiere?
Season 2 of Return to Paradise will premiere in the U.S. on Tuesday, July 14, on BritBox. New episodes will drop weekly on Tuesdays through August 18, 2026.
Season 1 is already available to stream in full on BritBox.
What is Return to Paradise about?
A spinoff of the hit series Death in Paradise, Return to Paradise is connected to the original through DI Jack Mooney (Ardal O’Hanlon). Mackenzie Clarke (Samson), the lead detective in Return to Paradise, used to work with Mooney at the Metropolitan Police in London.
After an investigation into her work, Mackenzie leaves London and moves back to Australia, where she takes a job at her local police station, where she is forced to work with her ex, Glenn (Tai Hara). Things continue to get awkward when she realizes her boss is the mother of her ex-fiancé. Jack also appears in several crossover episodes, helping connect the two series.
How did Season 1 of Return to Paradise end?
After Mack solves the case, she gets her badge back and readies to return to London. However, she overhears her ex-fiancé Glenn confess that he still has feelings, despite his engagement to his new fiancée, Daisy (Andrea Demetriades). After hearing this confession (to a dog), Mackenzie decides to stay in Dolphin Cove, setting up a future love triangle.
What can fans expect from Season 2?
“You can expect murders, and for Mackenzie and her team to solve them! We’re expanding the emotional world of all the characters in series two. Who they are and why they are the way they are. Colin and Mackenzie’s friendship becomes ridiculously joyful,” Samson told the BBC. “They act like best friends while having no idea that they feel that way, which is really fun to play. That love triangle between Glenn, Mackenzie, and Daisy also gets even more complicated, giving us a peek into her vulnerable side. We really challenge the emotional wall she puts up in this series.”
