Drew Carey is only the second person to ever host The Price is Right. With the show about to celebrate its 10,000th episode later this month, he has been involved in a large number of these episodes and is now as synonymous as Bob Barker once was with the popular game show. However, he doesn’t do it all alone.
On top of the announcer and models, Drew even called out the existence of the “woman in the back,” who he said has a lot to do with the game’s winners. Here is what you need to know.
Drew Carey Mentions The “Woman In The Back” On The Price Is Right
Drew Carey is not working alone on The Price is Right. George Gray is the announcer for the show and has been since 2010. There are also several models, including Rachel Reynolds, Amber Lancaster, Manuela Arbeláez, James O’Halloran, Devin Goda, and Alexis Gaube.

However, during a recent game, Drew also mentioned someone else to the contestants. This happened while the contestants were playing the game “One Away.” In this game, the players are shown an incorrect price for a car. Every member is either one higher or one lower than the car’s price.
They have a chance to change the numbers. If they get all five numbers wrong, they lose instantly. If they get at least one right, they are told how many are wrong and get a chance to make the changes again. Finally, if they get it right, they win the car.
Drew told the player the rules and showed her the incorrect price: $23,658. He then said, “We love this game. Get ’em all right, win yourself a car. Hurry, hurry, step right up!” He then made an interesting comment. Drew said when the price is changed there could be a car honking.
Who Is The Woman In The Back On The Price Is Right?
Drew Carey said that the honking of the horn is not his idea. He even said that fans shouldn’t blame him for this moment on The Price is Right. According to Carey, the horn is “controlled by a woman in the back” that they call “the Mighty Sound Effects Lady” (via YouTube).
“She’s gonna honk a horn. It’s not my call. This is what she likes,” Drew said. When the woman chose the numbers, Drew said, “Oh Mighty Sound Effects Lady, do I have at least one number right?” The horn honked, and the woman got to play on. The woman made her corrections and won the car.
