Drew Carey has worn many hats over the years, such as his hosting duties on The Price Is Right. Recently, some fans have taken to social media to show concern over the game show host. Notably, the change also had some fans reminiscing about the show’s previous host, Bob Barker.
Drew Carey Has Been A Comedian, Actor, & Even A Marine
Carey has had a long and storied career. In 1980, he joined the United States Marine Corps Reserve, serving as a field radio operator for the 25th Marine Regiment. By the end of the decade, he would establish himself as a stand-up comedian.
In 1995, Carey would star in his own sitcom, The Drew Carey Show, playing a fictionalized version of himself. The series proved popular, lasting nine years.

While still appearing on the sitcom, Carey started hosting duties on the improv series, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, an American remake of the British series of the same name. He remained part of the series until its original end in 2006.
In the mid-2000s, Carey would then transition into hosting game shows. His start was with the CBS series Power of 10, which proved to be short-lived. However, Carey would have better success with his next game show venture. In 2008, it was announced he would be succeeding Bob Barker as the host of The Price Is Right.
A Few Fans Suggested Carey Should Follow Bob Barker’s Example
While The Price Is Right helped to give Carey a brand new fanbase over the years, some fans are starting to grow concerned about him. As one fan wrote on Reddit, “Is Drew gaining grey hair or is it the lighting?” They continued, “Starting to notice it a bit, but I can’t tell if he’s losing the brown in his hair.”
The original posted also made sure to make a note in the comments that no disrespect was intended towards Carey. As they noted, “Guys, I love Drew and The Price is Right. I wasn’t trying to criticize Drew or anything, it’s just I haven’t watch the show in a while and haven’t noticed it.”

Other fans, however, thought it’s the other way around. In other words, Carey likely has been grey for a while, and has just been coloring it in-between his hosting duties. Other fans think, if that’s the case, Carey should just embrace the look. Some comments include:
- “I’m sure he’s been gray for a while. Also, why do we care about this?”
- “I thought it was a big deal when Bob Barker decided to let his go grey.”
- “Embrace the grey. It certainly didn’t detract from how good-looking Bob Barker was.”
- “[On Carey being called a ‘silver fox’] Much more so since he dropped all the weight, and seems like a genuinely nice guy.”
