Reba McEntire Lands New Sitcom With Exciting Throwback Reunion

She’s a singer, she’s a coach on The Voice, and she’s an actress, what can Reba McEntire not do? For six seasons, she played Reba on her self-titled sitcom which fans loved. It is now streaming and in syndication so very easily accessible. While she appeared on Jennifer Hudson’s talk show, Reba shared that there was a series in the works. However, she had no idea if it would get a series order or not.

If it did, it would reunite her with her Reba co-star, Melissa Peterman who played Barbara Jean ‘BJ’ on the show. They were frienemies as Reba’s husband left Reba for BJ but, by the end, they were like family. In real life, they are very close friends and the two have stayed extremely close with the rest of the cast. Well, it looks like all of the prayers worked because Reba’s new sitcom has been picked up.

According to TV Line, Happy’s Place will bring Reba and Melissa together when the former’s character inherits her father’s restaurant. Yet, the catch is that she must share it with her long-lost and unknown half-sister. It was created by Kevin Abbott who was the EP on Reba.

Reba McEntire will play the role of Bobbie so she will step into a new character while Melissa Peterman will take on the part of bartender, Gabby. This will be a thrill for Reba fans to see these two reuniting on the screen again. Additionally, Hocus Pocus 2 star Belissa Escobedo will portray Isabella, Bobbie’s half-sister and new business partner. Along with being unknown, she is also in her twenties and a psychology student so that will add some extremely comedic elements.

When Will It Start?

Happy’s Place is set to air during the 2024-2025 season so hopefully, early Fall. Reba McEntire and Melissa Peterman were seen doing a table read and fans were so thrilled.

  • wait Reba and Barbra Jean together again😍😍😍😍

  • I’m so excited!! I have been waiting for these two to work together again. They have amazing chemistry!! 💛💛

Even JoAnna Garcia Swisher, who played Cheyenne on Reba chimed in: “So so incredible!” Seems fans and former co-stars alike are ready and raring to go for this exciting reunion.
