The rumors are true: Gabriel Luna has joined the cast of Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 in a new role.
Paramount+ and Showtime confirmed the news of Luna’s casting on July 15, weeks after The Last of Us star was spotted filming with Michael C. Hall and Uma Thurman on the New York City set of the series.
The streamer confirmed that Luna will guest-star in the series’ next season, and his character is Ray Ballard, a serial killer whose call sign is “The Sleepy-Eyed Stranger.”
Luna had been spotted on the set of the series back in June. In a video captured by set watchers, Luna’s character was seen leaving a residential building and catching a cab shortly before both Hall’s Dexter and Thurman’s Charley exited the next-door building and raced to their separate cars.

This was but the latest in a series of set spottings that have lifted the veil on what’s ahead in Season 2. Previously, we learned that not only will Charley return, but she will be getting surprisingly cozy with Dexter in the episodes to come. Plus, we got a first glimpse of the Don Framt a.k.a. the New York Ripper (Brian Cox) coming face to face with Detective Claudette Wallace (Kadia Saraf), who has been positively fixated on finding his identity to the point of nearly losing her job over the obsession.
Also, we got our first look at another new killer, Owen Stark a.k.a. the Five Borough Killer (Dan Stevens), as well as a potential new victim of Dexter’s. Perhaps most surprisingly, we also got a few glimpses of the return of Mia a.k.a. Lady Vengeance (Krysten Ritter) as what we think might be a ghostly vision of the late, great serial killer.
The second season of Dexter: Resurrection is expected to also feature the return of James Remar, Jack Alcott, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, and Dominic Fumusa. In addition to Brian Cox and Dan Stevens, the series is also expected to feature Bokeem Woodbine and Nona Parker Johnson.
