The family of a figure known for appearing on The Real Housewives of Orange County recently shared a shocking health update with fans. The star had been diagnosed with cancer that proved to be more severe than they first realized. During the share, the family also called on fans to help.

The Real Housewives Of Orange County Would Prove To Be The Start Of The Major Bravo Franchise

The Real Housewives of Orange County is the series that started the Real Housewives franchise. Making its debut in 2006, the series revolved around the personal and professional lives of wealthy women in the eponymous California county.

Recently, it’s been announced that one of the series’ alumni had been diagnosed with tongue cancer. Family had shared the news, all while elaborating on the story, through a GoFundMe.

Jeana Keough served as one of the original members of the reality series. After departing as a full-time member around the sixth season, she has since made multiple appearances on the show.

Recently, Jeana’s daughter, Kara, revealed that her mother had been diagnosed with tongue cancer through a GoFundMe meant to help fund the star’s treatment. As she explained, “A few months ago, while visiting Shane and me in Florida, my mom mentioned a painful spot on her tongue. She assumed a tooth had been rubbing against it and had even gone to the dentist multiple times to have the tooth filed down.”

Kara Also Shared That The Condition Has Cost Her Mother Her Income

After realizing she had faced this pain for over a year, Keough was encouraged by her daughter to seek medical help. She continued, “A biopsy confirmed our worst fear: squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue.” She has since undergone two surgeries.

These include one to remove the cancer and another to “remove lymph nodes.” Unfortunately, after the second procedure, doctors realized that the cancer had spread.

Kara continued, “What we thought would be a one-time surgery became a full cancer battle. Jeana is now in her fifth week of chemotherapy, radiation, and immunotherapy.”

“The treatments are relentless. She is exhausted, struggling to stay awake, and becoming malnourished. Because the pain in her tongue and throat makes swallowing even the smallest bites or sips incredibly difficult. Every day is a battle just to get enough nutrition and hydration to continue treatment.”

Kara noted that her mother had to take time away from her commission-based job, costing her an income. Kara claimed that the funds raised would go towards “expenses, everyday living costs, nutrition, and the additional support she needs while undergoing treatment.”
