Rihanna Teases Super Bowl Halftime Rumors?

TV Shows

Rihanna is teasing the Super Bowl rumors on Instagram. Now, the ball is literally in her court. As TV Shows Ace previously reported this morning, Taylor Swift was rumored to headline the 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show. The “Love On the Brain” singer is the next pop star to tease fans.

Why Taylor Swift turned down the Super Bowl

Taylor Swift turned down the Super Bowl. Over the weekend, fans assumed that she was the next headliner for the 2023 Halftime Show, which is now sponsored by Apple Music. It’s a match made in heaven considering that Swift has worked with Apple over the years. Fans are also aware that she has a contract with Coca-Cola, which would’ve affected her from performing at the former Pepsi-sponsored event.

Despite the recent sponsor change, Taylor Swift still turned down the Super Bowl. She has no interest in performing in 2023 because she has to re-record her first six albums. Swift is still trying to get back her music catalog in her hands. In 2019, Scooter Braun got the rights to her albums.

So far, Swift has only released Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and Red (Taylor’s Version). The rest of her albums are on standstill. Swift can’t perform her hit songs like “Shake It Off” in front of a roaring crowd. Fans would love to see the singer-songwriter perform with a marching band behind her. Whether you love her or hate her, Swift can still put on quite the show.

Rihanna shares cryptic post on Instagram

On Sunday, September 25, Rihanna got her fans talking with her latest Instagram post. She shared a photo of her tattooed hand holding a football. She literally took the ball from Swift and teased the Super Bowl Halftime rumors. In the caption, she simply added a period, leaving her fans wondering what it could mean.

Roc Nation shared the same post on its respective Instagram account with the caption “Let’s Go.” They tagged the “We Found Love” singer and the NFL while adding the hashtag “SBLVII.” FOX Sports NFL shared the same image with the tweet: “Let’s Do This,” confirming the news just weeks before it’s usually announced. Even though Rihanna hasn’t released an album in six years, she still has an impressive catalog to fall back on.

Some of her hit songs include “Umbrella,” “Diamonds,” and “Only Girl,” which the fans would be heard singing along to in the stadiums. There’s no secret that Rihanna also can put on a show. This falls in line with TMZ’s report that they looked for another female pop star to headline the LVII Halftime Show since Swift turned it down.

This could also mean that she’s gearing up for her big comeback to music. Fans have been waiting for a follow-up to her critically acclaimed album, Anti, which includes hit songs like “Kiss It Better” and “Needed Me.” Since then, the new mom has been focused on her ever-growing fashion and beauty brands. She became a self-made billionaire in the U.S. because of them.

What are your thoughts on Rihanna headlining the 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show? Will you watch? Or, do you still think Taylor Swift should’ve nabbed the spot? Sound off below in the comment section.
