Rumer Willis is no stranger to dealing with health risks and testing in the family. Her father, Bruce Willis, has dealt with diagnoses of aphasia and frontotemporal dementia over the past few years. Recently, Rumer opened up about testing in her own life.
Rumer Willis Is The Daughter Of Actors Bruce Willis & Demi Moore
Rumer is the daughter of famous actors Bruce Willis and Demi Moore. An actress herself, she made her film debut alongside her mother in the 1995 film, Now and Then.
Other films Rumer has appeared in include The House Bunny, Sorority Row, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. She has also appeared in television shows including 90210 and Empire. Outside of acting, she won Season 20 of Dancing with the Stars in 2015.

However, Rumer has also announced plans to take her health into her own hands. She recently spoke with People about partnering with Function, a health membership that offers over 160 advanced lab tests. She shared that it was her father’s frontotemporal dementia diagnosis that drew her to genetic testing.
It is these tests that can help determine Rumer’s risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease. As she noted, “It’s terrifying to get answers sometimes.”
Rumer explained that there can be multiple issues that can be detected. As she explained, “Obviously there are genetic things in my family. Not just dementia, I’ve had some family members who have had breast cancer and family members who have had different things.”
Rumer Emphasized The Importance Of ‘Small Steps’ In Taking Control Of One’s Health
Rumer then stressed, “But I think when you have information, it’s power. And that sounds so, like, Spider-Man, but when we’re able to see, OK, maybe I’m more predisposed to this, you can just start actively working to reduce inflammation in your body, work on heart health, whatever it is. That’s why it’s been so amazing to be able to track a lot of those things with Function.”
Rumer also felt that it gives people power when it comes to dealing with providers. As she said with a laugh, “It also just feels like such an easy way to have information to share with your provider that says, ‘Hey, I actually have this data, so you can’t gaslight me about what’s happening.’”

While her father’s health concerns helped draw her towards testing, Rumer also felt that health had been a priority for her beforehand. She shared, “I think health is one of those things that we take for granted until we don’t have it.” Ultimately, she advised that “small steps” can help go a long way when it comes to people dealing with their health.
