Ryan Seacrest has been part of a number of iconic shows over the years, from reality competition shows to game shows. Recently, a fan suggested another show that he could be part of. However, Seacrest himself didn’t quite take it as a compliment.
Ryan Seacrest Recently Got Surprised By A Caller On His On Air Radio Show
Many were introduced to Seacrest from his role as presenter on American Idol, a role he’s had since the start of the show. In recent years, fans have also seen him take over hosting duties on Wheel of Fortune, taking over from the since-retired Pat Sajak.
However, Seacrest also has jobs outside of television. He also hosts his own namesake syndicated radio program, On Air with Ryan Seacrest, which was launched in 2004.
Recently, a caller suggested another project for Seacrest. As they shared, “Hi Ryan. I think that you need to be the next Golden Bachelor on ABC.” This caused Seacrest’s co-hosts, Tanya Rad and Sisanie Villaclara, to break into laughter.
The caller continued, “I think it would be nice to have 12 or 13 women who are all interested in you. I think that would be entertaining for television, and I wish you the best of luck,” as the co-hosts continued to laugh. Seacrest then reacted, “Why do I? Wait, hold on, hold on, hold on.”
Sisanie then shared, “I guess you’ve aged out of the regular Bachelor. But I don’t know if you’re old enough.” Seacrest shared, “I’m sorry, but the image I have of him is not golden. I don’t know what you see.” Rad noted, “You can’t be the regular Bachelor because they’re like 21, 22-year-olds.” Sisanie took note of Seacrest’s past relationships, sharing, “Well, he could.”
Some Fans Just Thought That The Caller Only Meant To Say Seacrest Was ‘Golden,’ Instead Of Commenting On His Age
Seacrest quipped, “But I can’t be golden.” Laughing, Rad joked, “Yeah. You’re kind of in the middle.” This caused Seacrest to share, “Like Gerry [Turner] was 75 years old. I can’t be golden.” Rad sympathized with the caller, sharing, “It was a sweet call because she really wants it for you.”
However, Seacrest felt that he would be a better fit on a few other shows. As he teased, “She does, but can’t I be on Love Island or something? Not the golden.” Sisanie joked, “I’m dead.”
The moment was shared on the show’s Instagram account, with the caption, “And we’re dead.” Following this, fans shared their own reactions, with many thinking that Seacrest was simply too big to be on the regular version of The Bachelor, rather than it being a comment on his age. Others, on the other hand, came to his defense. Some comments included:
