The former Today host recently attended a performance of Every Brilliant Thing on Broadway, starring Hargitay. The play marks the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit actress’ Broadway debut.
“Loved loved seeing @therealmariskahargitay bring down the house in @brilliantbway @jennifermillerjewelry,” Kotb captioned a Friday, June 5, Instagram selfie she and her friend Jennifer Miller took with their Playbills.
The play’s official Instagram post hopped in the post’s comments, writing, “We’re so glad you could join us!” Other fans shared their love for the play, with one user stating, “So excited i have my tickets july5 i have loved her since the beginning. of her career glad you enjoyed so excited.” Another added, “LOVED the play and Loved seeing you!!! Thanks for taking a pic with us!!!” Someone else shared, “I saw it with my niece last week. She was incredible!”
In another Friday Instagram post, Kotb shared a collage of photos from her Broadway night out, including snaps of herself joining Hargitay on stage for a sweet hug. She captioned the upload with a single red heart emoji.
“I love how proud you of your friend… that’s the best way to support,” one fan commented underneath the upload. Another gushed, “The best of the best.” Someone else said, “So happy and wonderful to see this! Amazing women!!!” A different person exclaimed, “This is EVERYTHING.”
One TikTok user shared a clip of Kotb’s on-stage moment, writing, “Hoda Kotb joins Mariska Hargitay on stage for a bow after the June 4 performance of Every Brilliant Thing on Broadway! Hoda jumped in to play the part of the professor.”
In the clip, Kotb appeared tearful as Hargitay guided her on stage for a hug. She kissed Kotb’s hand as she led her back to her seat.
Hargitay succeeded Daniel Radcliffe in Every Brilliant Thing, which opened on Broadway in March. The play follows a solo narrator as they look back at their life “and the glimmers of hope that carried them through,” per the show’s website. The play also involves audience participation throughout.

Hargitay made her official debut as the show’s narrator on May 26 and will continue her run through July 5. Several stars stepped out to celebrate Hargitay’s first Broadway performance, including many of her Law & Order costars, such as Christopher Meloni, Kelli Giddish, Raul Esparza, Peter Scanavino, Hugh Dancy, Corey Cott, Kevin Kane, and Aimé Donna Kelly.
Tracee Ellis Ross will take over for Hargitay in Every Brilliant Thing on July 7 and will perform through August 9. The show was nominated for two Tony Awards during the Sunday, June 7, awards show, including Best Revival of a Play and Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play for Radcliffe.
