Disney+ is off to Neverland in Peter Pan & Wendy. The live-action Peter Pan remake will hit the streaming service on Friday, April 28, and fans get a first glimpse at Jude Law’s Captain Hook and Yara Shahidi’s Tinkerbell in the first Peter Pan & Wendy teaser (above).

Peter Pan & Wendy introduces Wendy Darling, a young girl afraid to leave her childhood home behind, who meets Peter Pan, a boy who refuses to grow up,” Disney+ describes. “Alongside her brothers and a tiny fairy, Tinker Bell, she travels with Peter to the magical world of Neverland. There, she encounters an evil pirate captain, Captain Hook, and embarks on a thrilling and dangerous adventure that will change her life forever.”

In the teaser, released Tuesday, February 28, Wendy arrives in Neverland and meets The Lost Boys, but there are also girls in this group. Wendy questions this, to which the kids defiantly reply, “So?!”

Ever Anderson plays Wendy with Alexander Molony playing Peter. The young stars take center stage in the trailer, which features iconic film moments like meeting The Lost Boys and taking flight from the top of Big Ben. Shahidi’s green fairy is seen flying around throughout the clips, and Alyssa Wapanatâhk‘s Tiger Lily also lends a helping hand.

The special effects makes the kids and ships fly, bringing back the familiar feeling of wonder brought about in each Peter Pan iteration. (Visually, Peter Pan & Wendy looks more similar to the 2003 Peter Pan with Jeremy Sumter than Robin Williams‘ Hook.) Law creeps into the screen near the end of the fast-paced teaser.

“Wendy Moira Angela Darling,” he bodes while walking through a cave’s arch. “Where is Peter Pan?”

The live-action reimagining of the J.M. Barrie novel and the 1953 Disney animated classic also stars Joshua Pickering (John Darling), Jacobi Jupe (Michael Darling), Molly Parker (Mrs. Darling), Alan Tudyk (Mr. Darling), and Jim Gaffigan (Mr. Smee). The original movie is directed by David Lowery (The Green Knight, Pete’s Dragon). Lowery said in a statement that the film is a huge labor of love.

“In making Peter Pan & Wendy, we set out to craft a film that honors both the original J.M. Barrie text and Walt Disney’s animated adaptation,” he said. “We wanted to invigorate our retelling with emotional sincerity, an open heart, and a grand yearning for adventure. Hundreds of incredible artists spent many years bringing this film to the screen; I’m excited for audiences to see their work, to go on this ride, and to rediscover an evergreen tale from a new perspective.”

Peter Pan & Wendy is written by Lowery and Toby Halbrooks. It’s executive produced by Adam Borba, Thomas M. Hammel, and Toby Halbrooks with producer Jim Whitaker. Additional photos of the Peter Pan & Wendy cast can be seen below.
