Corcoran in a businesswoman and investor known for founding the Corcoran Group, a New York City real estate brokerage. For many, she is known as an original “Shark” on ABC’s Shark Tank. She has been part of the show, an American edition of Dragons’ Den, since 2009.
In her personal life, Corcoran lives in Manhattan with her husband, Bill Higgins, who previously served with the U.S. Navy and the FBI. The two married in 1988 and share two children together.
According to insiders speaking with The U.S. Sun, Corcoran has quietly stepped away from press events with her fellow “Sharks.” At this time, she is reportedly dealing with her husband’s health struggles, as well as health issues herself.
Reportedly, Corcoran was absent from an event on October 8, which celebrated the show’s 18th season. As one source shared, “Barbara didn’t attend the show’s promotional events earlier this month.”
Corcoran Recently Spoke About Her Husband’s Health Issues & How She Has Been Handling It
The source continued, “She’s been dealing with an old, serious knee injury which has, in part, kept her out of the mix.” As fans know, Corcoran has often shred updates about her knee, previously sharing that she was getting knee braces back in 2024.
In addition to her own health concerns, the Shark Tank star has also been caring for her spouse, who has been battling Alzheimer’s, as shared by an insider. Previously she told Parade, “My husband has Alzheimer’s, and he’s living in the memory ward of an extended care home, and it’s an extremely difficult journey.”
As Barbara previously noted, her way of handling the situation involves bringing herself into his world, rather than bringing him into hers. She explained, “My husband doesn’t know who I am; he’s still back in Annapolis playing football, so I bring football photos and put them on his wall. I ask him to tell me about his plays. He has a great memory for what he did on the football field.”
Previously, viewers saw Shark Tank return for Season 18 on September 30, 2026. A few guest “Sharks” this season have included Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson, Steven Bartlett, and Mindy Kaling.
