Saturday Night Live brutally mocked Elon Musk after the midterm elections in its “Weekend Update.”
In the Saturday, November 7 episode of SNL, Colin Jost interviewed Jeremy Culhane as Musk during the “Weekend Update” segment of the sketch comedy series.
“It has been a tough week for Elon Musk. He spent over $470 million on Republican candidates in the midterms,” Jost recapped. “Nearly all of them lost, the stock prices of his companies Tesla and SpaceX dropped, and his Cybertruck will no longer be produced due to sales.”
Turning to the trillionaire, Jost pointed out, “Elon, you’ve been in the news because you wasted half a billion dollars on the midterms.”
Musk insisted, “No, I’m in the news because my car did a flip. My car did a flip, remember? It was like a freaking Hot Wheel. It was like, pffh and then pop, and then pffh, pffh, pffh! But I was like totally chill. I was like thug life. Imagine.”
When Jost brought up halting production on Tesla’s Cybertruck, Musk again brought up the “flying car” demonstration.
“Hey, remember when my car did a flip? It was epic!” the CEO said, again making a bunch of dramatic sound effects. “Everyone was like, ‘Whoa!’ But I was just like, ‘Hold my beer.’”
Musk continued, “And then, like, you, me, and Che, we’re just like there. We’re just like hanging out, doing like epic vulgar roasts of each other. And then these girls, they’re like, ‘Can we hang?’ And we’re like, ‘No, you know, we’re good.’ And then like, imagine my leather jacket becomes like a suit of armor, like, ‘Shing, shing!’ and everybody’s like, ‘Elon, Elon, Elon!’ That would be amazing, man. Amazing. Like, imagine?”
To that, Jost marveled, “I cannot believe you are the richest person in the world.”
The “Weekend Update” anchor then pointed out, “You moved to Texas because California was run by Democrats. You moved all your companies to Texas because you didn’t want to pay taxes. You even built your own town in Texas. And now Texas is run by Democrats, so now you’re going to have to pay taxes. So how does that make you feel?”
Musk replied, “Bad.”
“I guess that’s what I thought. I mean, I would feel bad too,” Jost answered.
“Ouchie! Wouchie!” Musk replied. “That is another epic vulgar roast from Colin Jost, my poorest friend.”
When Jost asked what an “epic vulgar roast” was, Musk explained, “It’s my AI Grok’s most epic hardcore feature. It’s so vulgar and hilariously funny.”
That’s when Musk asked Grok to do an epic vulgar roast of him. They included:
- “Elon Musk, you’re the worst thing South Africa has ever done.”
- “When you’re on TV, it feels like an episode of Hate on the Spectrum.”
- “Maybe if you have 100 more kids, one of them will talk to you.”
“Shut it down, Grok, shut it down!” Musk yelled, ending the segment.
