Susan Seaforth Hayes Met Her True Love On Days of Our Lives
Days of Our Lives recently shared a big milestone with fans. The soap, which has been running since 1965, just released its 15,000th episode. Originally airing on NBC, the soap now streams episodes on Peacock.
Seaforth Hayes first joined The Young and the Restless in 1968. While she wasn’t the first actress to play the part, she would become the character’s most recognizable actress, having played the part for decades.
Famously, not only did Julie form part of a supercouple with Bill Hayes’ Doug Williams, but their actors would also end up marrying in real life. Married in 1974, the couple remained together until Bill’s death in 2024.
During the milestone episode, Seaforth Hayes was able to share a tribute to her late husband. While in-character as Julie, she also paid tribute to his alter-ego.
Following the milestone episode, the actress also shared a post with fans on social media. Taking to social media, the actress shared a photo of her embracing Bill from years past.
The actress wrote, “For all of you who have joined me in spirit through the days of Billy’s passing and Doug’s memorial on Days of Our Lives, I thank you,” which she paired with a heart emoji.
Seaforth Hayes also noted how lucky she was that she got to share her love story with viewers. As she noted, “It was a privilege to share my joy in his life with so many via television. Our Corday Family honored us with a particular love story that began 54 years ago in front of a television camera and ended there, too. How amazing!”

The actress commented on a lot of Bill’s real-life achievements. She added, “My darling was a steadfast, inspiring father to five children. He helped build a hospital in Africa, starred on Broadway for Rodgers and Hammerstein, conducted choirs… and I could never tell you the half of it.”
“He held me up with love so true. That’s all that keeps me or Julie standing now… recalling those glorious yesterdays and looking forward to more tomorrows.”
Taking to the comments, many fans praised Seaforth Hayes for the tribute. One fan wrote that they “cried throughout the episodes. What a beautiful tribute to your husband.”
Monsters & Critics, in particular, also especially gave Seaforth Hayes praise for the tirbute on the episode. As the publication noted, they felt the actress should win a Daytime Emmy for her recent delivery.
