The First Woman – Rosalind Chao, Michael Potts and Donna Lynn Champlin Be part of Forged

Rosalind Chao (The Pleasure Luck Membership), Michael Potts (The Wire) and Donna Lynne Champlin (Loopy Ex-Girlfriend) are set for recurring roles on Showtime’s upcoming anthology sequence The First Woman (working title), starring Viola Davis — who additionally government produces — Michelle Pfeiffer and Gillian Anderson. Cathy Schulman serves as showrunner. Susanne Bier (The Undoing) will direct and government produce.

Created by Aaron Cooley and produced by Lionsgate TV and Showtime, The First Woman is a revelatory reframing of American management, informed by the lens of the ladies on the coronary heart of the White Home. Season 1 focuses on Eleanor Roosevelt (Anderson), Betty Ford (Pfeiffer) and Michelle Obama (Davis).

Chao performs Tina Tchen, a superb lawyer recognized for her technique and wit, who was Chief of Workers to the First Woman Michelle Obama and served as Government Director for the Council on Ladies and Ladies.

Potts portrays Fraser Robinson III, the daddy of Michelle Obama.

Champlin is Melissa “Mel” Winter, a democratic political aide who was Michelle Obama’s first rent throughout Barack Obama’s presidential marketing campaign and continues to function her trusted Chief of Workers.
