The pair had a whirlwind romance on the ABC show. He popped the question during the November 2023 finale, and they were married just weeks later.
The Golden Wedding special was a golden ratings egg for ABC, nabbing millions of viewers. But was it all for nothing? Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist announced on Good Morning America on April 12 that they were divorcing after three months of marriage.
The news took Bachelor Nation by surprise, and many people took to social media to share their reactions. Susan Noles and Kathy Swarts called the news heartbreaking. They were both contestants on Gerry Turner’s season of The Golden Bachelor.

Her disdain of the show could explain why she wasn’t surprised at all that Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist split up. In fact, she gloated to her co-stars about the turn of events. She did a little dance as she exclaimed, “Today I get to say: I told you so, I told you so, I told you so!”

According to The Wrap, Sunny Hostin had a hard time accepting that she was wrong about the Golden Bachelor couple. She thought they would last because they knew better.
One disgruntled fan of the dating show wrote on Twitter, “This Golden Bachelor Season has probably ruined this franchise for good. They should never have rushed into the wedding!”
ABC did confirm in February that a Golden Bachelorette spinoff will air this fall, but has yet to commit to a second season of The Golden Bachelor.
