TV Shows

Last week, The View host Whoopi Goldberg seemed to abandon the rest of the hosts on stage and abruptly run off. The live show quickly cut to a commercial break. Is Whoopi Goldberg okay? Continue reading to find out the details of what happened last Thursday.

Talk Show Hosts Go Running Off Stage Last Week

Whoopi Goldberg wasn’t the only talk show host to go running off stage last week. Drew Barrymore also made headlines after she rushed off the stage during The Drew Barrymore Show, too.

Drew rushed off the stage for a different reason, though. She ran off to connect with an audience member that she recognized from her past.

Producers had the audience member stand up during the show and share a story about when she met Drew Barrymore years ago. According to her, she met Drew on a flight, and, at the time, the actress was struggling with personal issues.

“We sat in my galley, and you cried and cried because you were going through so much,” the woman shared with Drew and the live audience.

The Drew Barrymore Show host rushed into the audience to embrace the woman. “I was your flight attendant four years ago, and here I am crying on your show now,” the woman revealed.

They just sat there for a few moments, holding each other and crying. Then Drew Barrymore opened up to the entire room about how she was battling alcoholism at the time.

The View Hot Topics Send Whoopi Goldberg Running

Whoopi Goldberg’s reasoning for rushing off stage last week wasn’t nearly as personal or as touching. However, it did have viewers at home wondering what was going on.

The moment occurred during The View Hot Topics segment. Hosts talked about various times they had the urge to laugh on the show while they were having a serious conversation. Whoopi posed the question to her fellow co-hosts, asking if they had problems with this.

Most of them agreed that they have struggled with this in the past. Sarah Haines talked about a time during the pandemic when they were hosting the show remotely, and she had to hold back laughter.

Alyssa Farrah Griffin said that she finds that biting your tongue a little tends to help hold back the laughter during inappropriate times. Whoopi Goldberg had different advice for everyone, though.

For Whoopi, the best remedy is to simply walk away. She revealed that she’s tried covering her mouth in the past to quench her reaction. Unfortunately, there have been times when she couldn’t stop herself. In those moments, the best thing she could do was just run away.

To get the point across, Whoopi Goldberg got up and rushed off stage right before the live show cut to commercial break. Viewers will be relieved to know nothing was wrong, though. She simply wanted to act out what she was saying.
