The Young And The Restless’ Key Character, Imani Benedict, is being recast with a new character. Brought to life with the flawless acting skills of Leigh-Ann Rose starting December 2020, this character will now be replaced with a fresh face. CBS network confirmed the news. Imani’s character was initially introduced during an episode set around Christmas.
The Young And The Restless Makers Confirm Imani’s Recast
With a 49-season long run, the soap opera has been successfully broadcasting on TV since 1973. Currently, Season 49 of the show is broadcast on CBS, with Episode 225 slated to air on August 18, 2022. The change will take place next month after the new actress makes her debut in the soap.
It is a common thing for soap operas to often switch up their cast. Following suit, The Young And The Restless makers confirmed on Monday that it would be replacing Leigh-Ann Rose’s character on the show. Imani is the younger half-sister of Amanda Sinclair and the late Hilary Curtis.
However, this isn’t a permanent replacement. As per The Sun, Leigh-Ann is taking some time away from the show and this role will be a temporary recast. While Leigh-Ann Rose is busy with other commitments, Denise Boutte will take charge of the character. The network also revealed why the recast had to happen.
Leigh-Ann Rose Is Busy With Another Project
The outlet confirmed that Leigh-Ann has a scheduling conflict between The Young And The Restless and another project she has signed. However, nothing has been revealed on what project the actress has been busy working on and when she will return. While she is working on her second project, Denise will take charge as Imani.
Denise’s first episode as Imani will air on September 6, 2022. However, Denise isn’t a new face in the soap opera world. She is occasionally seen in different roles in Days Of Our Lives. In the soap, she played Danielle Calder along with several on and off characters from 2004 to 2007. Recently, she was a part of several holiday movies, including Christmas With My Ex and A Rich Christmas.
Victoria And Leigh-Ann To Star Together In A Holiday Movie
She is also the voice behind Young Justice’s Raquel Ervin/Rocket. The 40-year-old also played the role of a Deputy Mayor on Terror Lake Drive, a mini-series. Although nothing has been revealed about the project Leigh-Ann has been working on, news of her very own holiday movie has been confirmed.
Victoria Rowell, an alum of the soap opera, revealed that she would be working on the film titled Catfish Christmas alongside Leigh-Ann. In the month of June, Victoria shared the news that she is directing this holiday movie and expects a release in 2023. Both Victoria and Leigh-Ann will also team up for Blackjack Christmas, which might release this year itself, depending on the production schedule.
