Craig Melvin Has Worn Many Hats For NBC News & Today

Melvin is a broadcast journalist and anchor for NBC News. He has worked on various programs for the network over the years, from NBC Nightly News to Today.

However, Melvin was recently granted an honor away from the show. He announced the news through a reshared social media post on a recent Instagram Story.

The post, from Villanova University’s official Instagram page, stated, “Craig Melvin, acclaimed journalist and NBC’s TODAY co-anchor, will deliver Villanova University’s 2026 Commencement Address.”

The university’s website also shared that’s not all they have planned for Melvin. He is also set to receive an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree.

The School’s Website Highlighted A Lot Of Melvin’s Accomplishments

Melvin will get his award at the commencement ceremony at Villanova Stadium in Pennsylvania. It will take place on Tuesday, May 19, at 2:30 PM ET.

Interestingly, Melvin is not a Villanova alum himself. He actually earned his Bachelor of Arts in government from Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

In a statement, the school’s website praised Melvin’s accomplishments throughout his journalistic career. As it read, “An accomplished journalist, Melvin has covered a wide range of major national and global events, including Republican and Democratic National Conventions and three presidential inaugurations. His political reporting includes interviews with former President Bill Clinton, then-Vice President Joe Biden, former Ambassador Nikki Haley and former Secretaries of State John Kerry, Mike Pompeo and Condoleezza Rice.”

They continued, “Melvin’s reporting spans some of the nation’s most significant and challenging stories, including nationwide protests and high-profile criminal cases, demonstrating a commitment to thoughtful, on-the-ground journalism during critical moments. In addition to his domestic reporting, Melvin has covered six Olympic Games and six Super Bowls.”

As previously reported, Melvin has also recently become known for a recent business venture, Melvin Made. Through it, he sells candles, with the proceeds going to cancer charities.
