The cast and crew of Today recently got ready for a special day. In fact, lifestyle icon Martha Stewart was even there to help them get into the spirit of things. However, things ended up getting awkward with her and one of the co-hosts.
Craig Melvin & His Co-Hosts Appeared With Martha Stewart During A Segment At The Today Show Plaza
Melvin is known for his work as a co-anchor on Today. He became partners with Savannah Guthrie, co-hosting the first and second hours of the morning show, starting in early 2025. In addition, he also co-hosts the program’s Third Hour, a position he has held since 2018.
Throughout his career, Melvin has gotten to meet several high-profile figures. Recently, the studio got a visit from lifestyle mogul and entrepreneur Martha Stewart.
Stewart appeared on the show’s recent Halloween special. At the time, they were also celebrating NBC’s 100th anniversary. She shared one of her favorite festive recipes with the crew: a spiderweb cheesecake.
Melvin Was Dressed Like Martha Stewart’s Famous Friend, Snoop Dogg, For Halloween
As she was preparing to decorate the cake, Stewart shared, “Someone forgot the chocolate ganache.” Melvin, who was dressed up as Stewart’s friend Snoop Dogg, grabbed the piping bag for her. However, he accidentally drizzled some on her white pants.
Melvin could be seen with his mouth open after the misstep. Savannah Guthrie and Carson Daly, who were dressed as an NBC Page and singer Ella Langley, respectively, also appeared shocked.
Stewart, making note of Melvin’s costume, snapped, “Snoop! Real Snoop would never do this!” The Today co-host then moved to the other side of the table away from Stewart before moving back. Fortunately, she laughed it off as she started to decorate the cheesecake.
Stewart Laughed Off The Situation, Commenting That Chocolate Ganache Wasn’t Too Easy To Handle
As she continued, Stewart expressed, “Let’s do this very carefully,” calling the chocolate ganache “so sloppy.” She added, “I have burning legs of hot chocolate.”
Feeling apologetic, Craig told her, “I just feel so bad that I destroyed your $3,000 pants.” Martha reassured him, “Don’t worry about it. They wash.”
The moment was shared on Today‘s Instagram page, presented as a pseudo-photo comic story. As the caption read, “Martha Stewart joined TODAY’s Halloween extravaganza for a very spooky (and hilarious!) cooking segment.” With the share, many fans also shared their own reactions to the story:
