Being a stay-at-home mom isn’t always possible, or desirable. Many households are two-income as both parents work full-time jobs. A host from the Today Show opened up about feeling “mom guilt” for having someone else raise their children. Keep reading for more on the candid confession.

Today Host Reveals Why Someone Else Raises Kids

Having children is what many people dream of. But the reality of having kids is much different than what we expect. Many parents are left entrusting someone else to look after their kids while they work full-time. Several of the Today Show hosts have young children. One longtime host opened up about why she relies on others to raise her kids while she works.

Dylan Dreyer has been with the Today Show in various roles since 2012. She currently co-hosts the show’s third hour alongside Al Roker and Craig Melvin. But working full-time means sacrificing time with her family. The talk show host announced live on the show in 2021 that she was expecting her third child with her then-husband, Brian Fichera. She filed for divorce in March, a year after they separated.

Dylan Dreyer recently debuted a new podcast. She welcomed sports reporter and former DWTS host Erin Andrews on the first episode of The Parent Chat. The discussion turned to having nannies as full-time working moms. The Today Host revealed why she lets someone else raise her kids.

“My parents don’t live close. My mom’s in Florida. My brother’s in Oregon. My other brother’s in Florida. My in-laws are up in Boston. It used to be where you lived in a community. You lived in a neighborhood where your family was close by, and you had people that could watch your kids for you,” she said. But she feels guilty about it.

Dylan Dryer Opens Up About ‘Mom Guilt’

Erin Andrews has one son with her husband, Jarret Stoll. She’s experienced several miscarriages while trying to expand her family. Dylan Dreyer brought up an interview Erin Andrews gave where she admitted that she was “embarrassed” to have a nanny.

“Trust me, I would love to not have to pay somebody to help me watch my kids. But at the same time, I couldn’t have the career I have, and I love my job. I’ve been doing it, like, half my life, I’ve been doing this job,” Dylan Dreyer said. She shared advice with Erin Andrews about the mom guilt.

“You will notice once Mack goes to school, though, your life will, there’s just this guilt that comes off of you, because it’s like, ‘He’s at school. That’s not my fault, if I have to work during the day,’” the mom of three said.

Dylan Dreyer admitted to feeling guilty about being a working mother. However, she worked hard for her career and didn’t want to give it up. Share your experiences with “mom guilt” in the comments.
