‘Today’ Willie Geist Accidentally Insults Jenna Bush Hager On Air

On Today, the co-anchors have had all sorts of conversations with each other over the years and have given all sorts of reactions. During a recent episode, Willie Geist accidentally let something slip in front of co-star Jenna Bush Hager. Following this, Jenna shared that she would be calling on another team member for support.

Willie Geist Recently Filled In During An Episode Of Today With Jenna & Sheinelle

Geist is a journalist known for his work on Morning Joe and Sunday Today with Willie Geist. He also occasionally serves as a fill-in anchor on Today.

Recently, Geist guest-hosted on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle. At the time, he chatted with Jenna Bush Hager, making a share about life in his family.

At the time, Geist let it slip that he and his wife and childhood sweetheart, Christina, play mahjong with friends once a week. With this being the first time she heard about the weekly gathering, Jenna then interrupted him, sharing, “What? Wait … excuse me?”

There was a special reason as to why this upset Jenna. She isn’t just a fan of the game, but the one who introduced it to the couple. Using Christina’s nickname, she shared, “Teeny? Teeny, I’d like to just say, who introduced you to mahjong? It was me! Who taught you the Charleston and such? Call me!”

For his part, Geist tried to explain, “It’s local, so far. We haven’t expanded out.” Jenna felt this didn’t hold much weight, adding, “Uh, I live within a 20-minute radius!” Geist also tried to assure Jenna that she was invited if she was interested.

When Geist also described the gathering as a “big social night,” Jenna then wanted to know how “big” things really were. Geist joked, “There are hundreds of women! She doesn’t even know most of them. It’s just an open invite. She puts it on social media. No, no, no.”

Jenna then revealed that they weren’t the only mahjong fans among the Today Show family. As she teased, “I’m gonna text Savannah right after this. I’m glad my phone ringer’s on.”

In fact, last year, Jenna and Savannah actually did a segment on the show about the traditional Chinese game. At the time, Savannah’s mother, Nancy, even shared a video of her own original mahjong set.

Savannah had shared, “It’s been such a fun bonding thing because my mom, so when I went to see her a couple months ago in Arizona, she invited her mahjong ladies over and we all played and we had a great time. And now my mom is teaching some of the younger girls in her world how to do mahjong.”
