What To Know

  • Dylan Dreyer shared an emotional video on her podcast documenting her family’s last day in their New York City apartment.
  • The Today host and her kids moved to the suburbs a few months after she announced her split from her estranged husband, Brian Fichera.
  • Dreyer has previously opened up about how she and her kids have grown closer with Hoda Kotb and her daughters since their move.

Dylan Dreyer opened the latest episode of her podcast, The Parent Chat, with a bittersweet video.

At the top of the podcast’s Thursday, June 4, episode, the Today host shared footage from her family’s last day in their New York City apartment before moving to the suburbs. “Bye, house!” Dreyer said in the clip, while her youngest son, Rusty, was crying in the background.

“Smile, it’s our last video here!” Dreyer told Rusty as he continued to cry on the floor. She proceeded to bid farewell to rooms such as the apartment’s kitchen and her kids’ former room. “Did you like this house?” she asks a tearful Rusty, who replies, “Yeah.”

Looking back at the clip, Dreyer said the footage made her “bawl” her eyes out, adding, “It was the first time I really looked at the different chapters in my life, and it kind of was all summed up in my kids’ bedroom.”

She continued, “It was just a really special time to look back and reflect on that because we just sold that apartment, and now, it was empty. And that room had seen so much, and now, we were moving on to a new adventure, a new chapter as a family.”

Dreyer shares her three sons — Calvin, Oliver, and Rusty — with her estranged husband, Brian Fichera. In July 2025, Dreyer revealed via Instagram that the pair had quietly separated a few months prior. That October, Dreyer revealed she was moving out of her family’s Big Apple apartment. She officially filed for divorce from Fichera in March.

“This room holds a lot of memories, and I thank God every day for each and every one of them. ‘A house is made of walls and beams; a home is built of love and dreams,’ — Ralph Waldo Emerson,” she wrote alongside Instagram photos of her sons’ shared room over the years, including Calvin and Oliver’s bunk bed. The boys’ sleeping arrangements later became a triple bunk bed once Rusty outgrew his crib.

“And the boys have a whole lifetime of love and dreams ahead of them! Just not in a triple bunk bed!” Dreyer added at the time.

Now, Dreyer and her kids are enjoying the suburban life and hanging out with their neighbors, Hoda Kotb and her two daughters, Haley and Hope. “Because Dylan Dreyer is our neighbor, her three boys often run into my house and play with my daughters all day long, doing simple stuff—creating a makeshift lemonade stand, fishing, scooping up crabs,” Kotb wrote in an August 2025 edition of her Joy 101 newsletter.

Back in March, Dreyer detailed her and Kotb’s fun weekend activities with their kids on the third hour of Today. “They love doing lemonade stands when they’re together. It was cold on Saturday, so instead, we did a hot chocolate stand,” she shared.

Joking that she and Kotb piled their kids into a minivan, Dreyer added, “And then, they were riding bikes and just hanging out, just kids being kids. So, it was really just a fun, fun weekend.”
