Tom Holland says hello and goodbye

Having a career in acting for nearly half of his life, Tom Holland is no stranger to the backlash and criticism that comes with being an actor. This, however, doesn’t change the fact that like all other celebrities Tom Holland is human and still has feelings. The young actor has reached a point where he’s realized spending time on Instagram and scrolling through things people are saying about him isn’t good for his mental health.

Being the incredible actor and person that he likes to portray himself as, however, Tom Holland also realizes that he has just shy of 70 million followers on Instagram. So, he didn’t just want to ghost his fans without explaining his decision to leave.

A quick scroll through his profile reveals Tom Holland hadn’t posted in a little over a month before announcing his departure. Moreover, the actor only really took to his Instagram once a month for the past several months. So, this isn’t an actor that was wildly engaged with his followers are super active on his profile. His departure announcement, however, sounds like he was someone who spent a lot of time browsing Instagram.

His massive following reacts to his departure

In just 48 hours, Tom Holland’s Instagram followers watched his video over 20 million times. His video also accumulated over 50,000 comments. It was unlikely any of these comments would be read by Tom Holland as he declared he was deleting the app for the sake of his own mental health after he posted this video.

He penned in his caption: “Hello and goodbye… I have been taking a break from social media for my mental health.”

There was nothing but love in the comments for the young actor and his decision to walk away. Most of his followers agreed everyone needs a break from social media every now and then. Others hope he enjoyed his time away and noted they would miss him while he was gone.
