Trista Sutter just celebrated her son Max’s high school graduation — and Bachelorette fans can’t get over the fact that he’s the spitting image of his dad, Ryan Sutter.
On Thursday, May 21, Trista took to Instagram with a photo of herself and Max, 18, ahead of the ceremony. “My baby graduates today,” the doting mom, clearly in her feels about the milestone, captured her update.
In the comments, followers flooded Trista with congratulations and disbelief over how much Max resembles his father. The Real Housewives of Orange County star Gretchen Rossi wrote, “Congrats! Wow, he looks just like Ryan!”
The Bachelor Season 19 (and Season 20) star Becca Tilley exclaimed, “He is IDENTICAL to Ryan! Wow! You’re so beautiful, Trista!”
Another Instagram user declared, “So cute! He’s Ryan’s twin for sure!!! Congrats!!!” A second echoed, “Hubby’s twin! How sweet! Congrats to him! And you too, mama!”
Someone else admitted, “OMG, I said, ‘How did Ryan age in reverse?!!!!’ Twins!!!”

The following day, on Friday, May 22, Trista returned to her Instagram grid with a carousel of snaps of Max’s graduation itself — including a shot of the whole family. In the photo, Max resemblance to Ryan was even more apparent.
“I was fully prepared for unending tears today, but instead felt such immense joy and pride,” she wrote in the caption. “Joy in knowing the love and support that surround him. Pride in the characteristics of humility, faith, courage, strength, confidence, and hard work that have gotten him here. And, I not only got to celebrate him, but was privileged to cheer for his beautiful girlfriend and their friends as they walked across that stage and into their futures…and share it with family and friends from near & far. ”
To conclude her thoughts as Max ended this chapter of his life, Trista shared, “He may be launching from our nest, but I believe wholeheartedly that he will soar and fly towards his future with the knowledge that he is seen, supported, and oh so loved. Congratulations @max.sutter_21 @maggie.bedrick and all the other graduates!”
Trista, 53, and Ryan, 51, got engaged in Season 1 of The Bachelorette and married later that year, in December 2003. In addition to Max, they welcomed a daughter, Blakesley, 17. The OG Bachelorette couple has now been married for more than 22 years.
