Trump Goes On Expletive-Filled Rant At News Outlet
Donald Trump has been complaining about how the media covers him since he ran for President in 2016. As a well-known New York businessman for decades before running for office, he enjoyed a positive relationship with the press. However, that relationship has soured drastically in recent years.
The President has long heralded certain news organizations as “fake news.” He recently took action by banning CNN, MS Now, and Politico from the White House press pool. The outlets immediately sued and the court ordered their access be restored.
He recently welcomed Time magazine into the Oval Office for an extensive interview. President Trump sat with the reporter for 75 minutes. The outlet released a transcript of the interview, including Trump’s expletive-filled rant against them.
He was asked toward the end of the interview about Senator Mitch McConnell’s return to the Senate three months after a fall at home. President Trump said that it was a “disappointment to the Republicans” that McConnell returned. He then launched into a rant about the interview.
“This ain’t gonna be much of a story. Here we are doing this. You haven’t asked me one f**king positive question. All of this. What about this? What about that?” he vented.
That wasn’t the first time in the interview that the President went off about “fake news.” He took specific aim at Kaitlan Collins.
Battle With CNN’s Kaitlan Collins Escalates Amid Media Ban
President Trump’s issues with Kaitlan Collins go back to his first term. They often butted heads during press conferences. However, the feud has taken a nastier turn in the last few months.
Kaitlan Collins reported from the UN Assembly in late September despite Trump banning CNN from the White House press pool. He confronted her when entering the building, but she said the UN invited her. He later took to Truth Social to rant about her. The President went so far as to call her a “sleazebag” for the entire internet to see.
He randomly brought her name up during the Time interview even though the reporter hadn’t mentioned her or CNN at all. “I never get good press. I never get fair press. Doesn’t have to be good. All it has to be is fair,” Trump complained. “So at a certain point, you say, “What’s the purpose of like this crazy Kaitlan Collins?” She’s a very average person. She’s the most unhappy young person I’ve ever seen.”
The President previously called Kaitlan Collins out for not smiling when asking him questions. The CNN anchor addressed his latest insult live on television. She did a segment on the interview, reading several of the quotes on the air. After reading what he said about her, she quipped, “Did I mention that was unprompted?” before continuing the segment.
