Tune in to Jeopardy! to see if the law and policy student from Thousand Oaks, California, continues his winning streak. From his job, schooling, relationship status, and more, here are a few facts about Groen.
He is a Harvard law student
What? Like it’s hard? According to Groen’s LinkedIn page, he attends Harvard University, where he is obtaining a dual MPP/JD degree. While he is studying law, Groen is focusing on global clean energy finance. Groen is scheduled to graduate in May 2027. While attending school, he is also part of the Prison Legal Assistance Program. Groen is getting his Master’s Degree in Public Policy. He should graduate at the same time with that degree.
Before Harvard, Groen obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Economics, and History from the University of California, Berkeley. He graduated from there in 2021.
He interned in London
While Groen is double majoring in school, he is also holding down an internship at Milibank LLP. There, he is set to complete a 1o-week program where he will work in Project Finance, Alternative Investments, and Global Corporate (M&A) practice groups.
He previously interned at EBRD and Tony Blair Institute for Global Change in London, England, from June 2024 to June 2025. Groen’s other internships included the Foreign Service Institute, the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Cevro Institute in Prague, and the Institute for Peace and Dialogue.
Groen only had one paying job, as an Associate Examiner at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. For two years, he “executed the Federal Reserve’s supervisory policies within the western United States through on-site examinations and off-site supervision of financial institutions in areas like Capital, Liquidity, IT, and Audit to maintain a safe banking system.”
He used to play tennis
During his first game, Groen revealed that he used to play tennis in high school. He attended Wimbledon when he lived in London and spent eight hours in the queue. After getting concessions and merch, he saw 20 minutes of the game.
He grew up near Jeopardy!
During his third game, Groen revealed that he wasn’t originally from Thousand Oaks. He grew up in Culver City, California, just a few blocks away from the Jeopardy! set until he was one year old. “It’s kind of a full circle moment. We never attended a Jeopardy! taping, but I’m glad to be on the stage here,” he said.
Groen is a musician
In his fourth game, Groen revealed that he played the viola in high school. He also shared that there is a recording studio in Disneyland and his orchestra got to play classic Disney soundtracks.
