Wheel Of Fortune host, Ryan Seacrest sees all kinds of people in his line of work. But in a recent episode, he put one contestant on blast claiming he had “embarrassed” his family.
Ryan Seacrest Spends Some Time With The ‘LEGO Realtor’
On the February 5 episode of Wheel Of Fortune, one contestant named Matt Benton made a strong impression. Matt is a Navy veteran from Blythewood, South Carolina, and has also been on The Price Is Right previously in 2008. However, he missed out on getting to spin the big wheel so he took his shot at WOF. He told fans he is known as the “LEGO Realtor” because of his profession in real estate and his love for LEGO collectibles, especially Star Wars. He said the experience was somewhat overstimulating, but he managed to earn himself $22,148 in cash and prizes while going through regular gameplay. Furthermore, that included a trip to Iceland. But at one point, Ryan Seacrest called him out for embarrassing his family.
Ryan Seacrest Puts Player On Blast For Embarrassing Family
When Matt Benton and Ryan Seacrest stood in front of the Wheel Of Fortune mini-wheel, Ryan discussed who accompanied Matt. Ryan points and asks, “I think your wife is over here, right?” Matt responds, “Yes, my incredible, sexy wife, Stephanie.” He also added that he had Josiah,15, Leia, 11, (honorably mentioning a nod to Princess Leia), and Gibson, 9, cheering from home. But Ryan couldn’t resist putting him on blast by saying, “And you just embarrassed all your kids with that exchange right there.” As most parents know, tweens and teens don’t usually like to hear about their parents’ attraction, especially when referring to their mom as “sexy” on TV. Matt just smiles, shakes his head, and adds, “That’s right.”
Matt Squeaks By
But it didn’t seem to bother Matt Benton very much. In his Wheel Of Fortune Bonus Round, he had the category “Place.” He landed on the “M” card on the mini-wheel that hid the possible prize. Then, he was left staring at “_ / _ _ R _ _ _ _ / L _ N _” on the puzzle board.
Sadly, he didn’t get much help from his consonant and vowel choices, adding only one F and a D. But he worked his way through the puzzle, “_ / F _ R _ _ _ _ / L _ N D,” as fast as he could during the allotted ten seconds.
Squeaking out a win, he guesses and solves it with “A Faraway Land” with just 0.9 seconds remaining. Ryan Seacrest loved the adrenaline rush of seeing Matt beat the clock. He said, “Yes, that’s it, ‘A Faraway Land,’ and in time! With 0.9 seconds to go – he scores! Congratulations!” Then, Ryan reveals he gained $40,000 and a trip to the Canadian Rockies. The combo was thanks to the week’s theme, “Collette’s Spin, Solve, and See the World Week” where the winners got cash and a trip.
‘I’m His Kid’
But after the YouTube video was posted, one user popped in the comments with a surprise response to Ryan Seacrest claiming Matt “embarrassed” his kids. Instead of embarrassment, it was mostly confusing to the commenter.
- The user says, “I’m his kid I was low key thrown off by the title I was like how did he embarrass me 😂.”
- Someone else adds, “I bet you’re still proud of your dad.” To which they reply, “Of course.”
- Others congratulated Matt on his good run, “Solved it just in the nick of time!! I didn’t think he was going to get it but was pleasantly surprised!! Enjoy your dough and your trips, Matt!!”
In an interview, Matt Benton added, “We all get to experience some things in life that are really unique, and this is one and I’ll be savoring it for a long time.”
