Who is ‘Big Brother’s Lyric Medeiros? Her Time on ‘American Idol,’ Famous Dad & More

- Advertisment -

In modern seasons of Big Brother, many of the Houseguests typically have a social media background, have come from another show, or are already known in the reality TV world. This is exactly the case for Lyric Medeiros. She has a famous father and has appeared on TV before.

There have been famous siblings (hello Frankie Grande), as well as siblings who have appeared on the CBS show before, and there have been Houseguests with famous parents like Joe Frazier. Lyric joins that group.

Lyric was one of the 14 new Houseguests to move into the Big Brother house on July 9. The newbies were joined by Season 26 alum Angela Murray and Survivor Season 38 and 50 alum Rick Devens, after two Houseguests earned safety. Then, when the third Houseguest earned safety, Rachel Reilly appeared as the third reality TV alum, but didn’t stay for long as she was “killed off” by a dinosaur.

Born in 2001, Lyric, from Honolulu, Hawaii, followed in her famous father’s footsteps and auditioned for American Idol in 2023. Find out how well she did.

With all of the excitement from premiere night, the focus tipped towards the three veterans, but who exactly is Lyric Medeiros? Will she make it to the end and win the $750,000?

Her Father is a Former Pop Star

Lyric’s father is Glenn Medeiros, who was a famous pop star in the 1980s and 90s. Glenn is a former singer who was popular from 1986 to 2007. He is best known for the song “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love For You,” which reached number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the charts in Canada and Europe.

His hit “She Ain’t Worth It” with Bobby Brown reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks. After his singing career plummeted, Glenn turned to education. He got his Master’s Degree in Education and became the Vice Principal of Maryknoll Schools in 2013. Glenn was an American History teacher for five years before that.

She Auditioned for American Idol

Lyric auditioned for Season 21 of American Idol. She made it through the first round of auditions but got cut during the Hollywood round. Her mom, Tammy Armstrong, came with her to the audition, but she mentioned her dad was a singer.

“I really do get my love of music from my dad. I’m excited to experience it all because this is once-in-a-lifetime,” she said in her audition package.

Lyric received two yeses from Lionel Richie and Katy Perry, but they told her not to play it safe and sweet and asked her to sing another song. They gave her a chance and sent her through.

Now She is an Attorney

Although Lyric hasn’t given up on her singing dreams completely, she did turn to law. She is new to the firm, Porter Kiakona Kopper LLC, and just joined it this year, according to her work bio. Lyric works in the firm’s litigation section, where she “assists clients in matters involving community association law, commercial litigation, real estate disputes, and related civil matters.”

Before joining PKK LLC, she worked at a boutique Hawaiian firm, where she litigated cases and represented clients in mediation. Lyric earned her Juris Doctor and her Master of Business Administration Degrees from the University of Hawaiʻi.

Prior to law school, Lyric graduated Suma Cum Laude in three years from the University of Notre Dame. She became the youngest person in Hawaii to pass the bar at the age of 23.

Is She In a Relationship?

During her pre-season interview, she said that she was “open to a showmance,” indicating that she is single. Could she be the next coupled-up Houseguest in Big Brother?

Family Life

Aside from her famous dad, her family consists of her mom, Tammy Armstrong, who married her dad in 1996, and her brother, Chord Mederios, who was born in 2000.

Big Brother, Season 28, Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, 8/7c, CBS
