High Potential‘s third season may not arrive until 2027, but the stars are already imagining what is ahead for Morgan Gillory (Kaitlin Olson) and team when they do return to air.
One particular debate they’re addressing is which character, Morgan, a single mom consulting for the LAPD, should be with. While romance isn’t the driving force behind the procedural, fans can’t help but discuss the topic, especially with the twists and turns Morgan’s love life seems to take onscreen.
For those who have been tuning in since Season 1, they’d know there’s been a will-they-won’t-they dynamic established between Morgan and her originally reluctant partner, Karadec (Daniel Sunjata). But Season 2 threw a bit of a wrench in the path to Morgadec as Steve Howey joined the show as Captain Nick Wagner.
While his role in the show wasn’t exactly clear until the latter half of Season 2, his sparked romance with Morgan has some viewers reconsidering sides in the debate. The same could be said for the stars, among which include Javicia Leslie and Deniz Akdeniz, who play Daphne and Oz.

TV Insider caught up with the duo on the red carpet for Disney’s Upfront presentation, where they weighed in on the debate. Before we even had a chance to ask the question of Team Karadec vs. Team Wagner, Leslie admits, “I’m lowkey kind of shipping Morgan and Wagner… I thought that was a hot ass couple… like that elevator scene was crazy.”
The elevator scene Leslie mentions is, of course, the first kiss shared between the new captain and Morgan ahead of the Season 2 finale. As for whether Morgan should be with Wagner or Karadec, Akdeniz says, “You gotta be Team Morgan.”
Leslie echoes that sentiment, adding, “I am team whatever… Morgan worked her behind off to be a mom, to be what she is for us… I’m just team her happiness. So if it is Wagner, great, and if it’s Karadec, great. Just as long as she’s happy and she’s able to do what she does.”
