Jonathan Knight got emotional while filming new episodes of his home renovation series Crashers.
HGTV‘s revival of the Crashers franchise premiered back in June. Hosted by Knight, the series follows the New Kids on the Block star as he surprises unsuspecting homeowners out in public with a free room renovation of their choosing. The only catch? The clients have no say in the design choices and must vacate their house for 72 hours while Knight and his team work their home renovation magic.
Last month, Knight revealed via Instagram that Crashers will return with new episodes in 2027. Over on Facebook, Jonathan’s sister, Sharon Knight, explained that the show’s hiatus is due to filming and NKOTB’s upcoming Las Vegas residency concert dates.
As filming for the second half of Crashers Season 1 continues, Jonathan opened up about his love for the series via Instagram. “When you do what you love… life is so fulfilling!” he captioned a video of himself happily watching footage on a monitor on set. “I am so happy that @HGTV and @bigtablemedia believed in me to bring this amazing show to the screen. From the homeowners to the amazing crew that brings this to life….I am so grateful.”
Fans took to the post’s comments to share their own love for Crashers. “You are not simply living Jon, you are thriving. We love you loads and we love seeing you on TV. Thanks HGTV,” one user gushed. Another added, “There’s something really special about seeing someone genuinely happy doing what they love. You’ve given us music and memories for so many years, Jon, and now we get to watch you create something completely different that clearly brings you so much joy. So happy for you and this new adventure!”
Someone else shared, “The results show how much you love creating and designing. A man of limitless talents!” A different person posted, “That smile!!! Makes my heart smile!!! I love watching you do what you do. You bring such joy to everything around you!!!” A separate commenter stated, “We LOVE you and this show!!! Your smile is EVERYTHING!”
Jonathan shared a behind-the-scenes snap of himself on set via Instagram on September 4. “Changing peoples lives one Crash at a time. Thank you to all our homeowners who take the leap and put your trust in us,” he wrote. “Heading home for the weekend… but will be back at it on Tuesday. Keep your eyes open. I just may be in your town or city.”
The premiere of Crashers comes one year after HGTV canceled Jonathan’s former series, Farmhouse Fixer, after three seasons. Jonathan reflected on the show in a recent interview with People, stating, “Farmhouse was the greatest show. That was my baby. But on Farmhouse, it took 16 months for me to do the last season. It was so much time.”
He continued, “We’d go on tour and I’d have to fly home [to Boston] on my days off and finish filming, and then fly right back to some city for a show. As fun as it was, it was just getting to be a lot. And finally it got to be where it was unsustainable for me.”
Knight compared Farmhouse Fixer to a “classic movie,” adding, “It’s out there, you can watch it on streaming anytime you want.”
