Andrew Tate and his brother, Tristan Tate, were arrested in Miami following new charges in the U.K.
On Saturday, July 18, the U.S. Marshals Service took the controversial social media personalities — Andrew, 39, and Tristan, 38 — into custody in Miami on a sealed warrant, an agency spokesperson, Brady McCarron, told the Associated Press.
British prosecutors announced on Saturday their intention to seek the Tate brothers’ extradition on charges of raping and trafficking women between 2010 and 2017. Per the BBC, British authorities have issued a total of 38 new charges against them.
“We have decided to prosecute Andrew and Tristan Tate for further offences including rape, arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation and offences relating to indecent images of a child,” Malcolm McHaffie, the head of the special crime division at the Crown Prosecution Service, said in a statement.
McHaffie continued, “These charging decisions followed receipt of a further file of evidence from Bedfordshire Police and bring the total number of alleged victims in this case to seven.”
During a phone call with the AP, Joseph McBride, an attorney representing the Tate brothers, called the new U.K. charges “filth and slander” in an attempt to disrupt defamation lawsuits they filed in the U.S.

“They’re pulling out all the stops to make sure these guys never get their day in court,” McBride claimed. “We are confident that once a competent judge sees the facts, and once the Department of Justice confronts this egregious abuse of its own authority, Andrew and Tristan Tate will walk free. America does not do Britain’s political dirty work.”
Previously, the Tate brothers — who have dual British and U.S. citizenships — were arrested in Romania in 2022. They were accused of luring women into the country and coercing them into sexual exploitation, but denied the allegations. Not much has happened with the Romanian case; Andrew and Tristan were allowed to leave Romania and fly to Florida in February 2025.
The Tate brothers are expected to appear in Miami’s federal court early next week, an anonymous source told the AP.
