The supernatural comedy landscape is expanding at CBS this fall with the arrival of Eternally Yours, but could there ever be room for a crossover with Ghosts?
Both shows hail from co-creators Joe Port and Joe Wiseman and have shared connective tissue between their casts, but will that be enough to spark the TV event fans will likely be hungry for after sinking their teeth into the new vampire series? “It needs to happen,” Román Zaragoza, who plays pizza-loving spirit Sasappis, proclaimed while chatting with TV Insider at San Diego Comic Con.
“What if the vampires could see the ghosts, or what if somehow they could interact [with them]? I think it’s a really fun idea,” Zaragoza continued.
While there’s eagerness there, Utkarsh Ambudkar, who plays living proprietor of Woodstone, Jay, said, “There’s a little bit of a speed bump in that Allegra Edwards has been on Ghosts, so eagle-eyed audience members may be a little bit curious as to what she’s doing there.”
It’s also pointed out that Rose Abdoo has appeared on Ghosts as well, and both Edwards and Abdoo play series regulars in Eternally Yours as vampire Liz and human Phyllis. “I really want to do a crossover episode, and to me it makes the most sense to do it as a Ghosts episode,” Port noted, “because it just seems like they would come stay at the hotel because they can leave the property.”
As for what Ghosts fans will enjoy about Eternally Yours, Ed Weeks, who portrays Liz’s vampire husband Charles, hinted at the same kind of “mythology mixed with human warmth.”
Edwards added, “There are going to be some fun special effects, some superpowers that we may have.” And she pointed out, “You know they have the different historical ghosts from their different eras [on Ghosts] and they’re all coexisting at the same time. Our history is in the past, but we get to jump back over and over and revisit different eras of our marriage.”
