What To Know
- Scott Foley is reprising his role as Sean for Scrubs‘ upcoming season.
- Will the show pick up the past love triangle between him, Elliot, and J.D.?
Scrubs is welcoming back another familiar face as it’s been revealed that Scott Foley will reprise his role as Sean Kelly in Season 2 of ABC‘s revival series.
But could his return stir up some romantic drama? As viewers may recall, during the show’s original run, Foley’s Sean was a patient at Sacred Heart Hospital before he began dating Elliot (Sarah Chalke). Ultimately, he became direct competition for J.D. (Zach Braff), who was also in love with the doctor.
The marine biologist went through quite a journey, breaking up and getting back together with Elliot over the years, and after so many ups and downs, he seemingly settled down with Doctor Kim Briggs (Elizabeth Banks), who happens to be the mother of J.D.’s son, Sammy. Whether Sean and Kim are still together is unclear, but we do know that J.D. and Elliot are divorced, leaving her available for potential future dating.
Could Season 2 of the revival bring back the love triangle that played such a major role in the original run of Scrubs? Only time will tell, but perhaps it won’t be much of a love triangle, as it was revealed Rachel Bilson will reprise her role as Charlie, who showed a romantic interest in J.D. at the end of the revival’s first season.
If Sean and Kim were still together, it would be curious to see if ABC would bring Banks back as the character, or if they’d explain her absence as working outside of Sacred Heart Hospital. One thing’s for certain: The tease offered to fans hints at Sean’s ongoing role as a marine biologist as he walks through the Vancouver aquarium in a new behind-the-scenes video. We want to hear your theories in the comments section.
In the meantime, stay tuned for any updates on Scrubs‘ latest season and the potential for a love triangle between J.D., Elliot, and Sean as we approach the fall premiere.
